Beaver Wrestling Supporters,

Reminder that the deadline to order Oregon State University Wrestling apparel is approaching at end of day on Sun 7/18.  This temporary shop aligns with camp registration, but camp participation is not required.  The shirts, sweatshirts, sweats, singlets, etc. are not specific to the camps and can be ordered at the link below.

Much appreciation to all who have made it possible to bring our RTC athletes to Corvallis.  Coach Nate Engel and 5x World Champ and Beaver Dam RTC athlete Adeline Gray are on their way to Tokyo to represent team USA.  We are behind you!!

Thanks to John Dustin, who is also a former Olympic wrestling official, for the article below.

We can't mention Olympic Wrestling without thinking of Greg Strobel, who coached in the Olympics from 1992 - 2004.  His memorial service will be held at Lehigh on 8/21.  Thank you to Scott Spiegelberg and Craig Scharer for this info.

About an Article by Kerry Eggers

Thanks to John Dustin, former Oregon State wrestler and long time Beaver supporter, for the following email bringing attention to an article in the news:

Kerry Eggers is a sportswriter who has covered Portland sports for more than forty years, writing for the Portland Tribune since its inception in 2001. He is a five-time winner of the Oregon Sportswriter of the Year Award and has covered major sporting events throughout his career, including the Summer Olympics, Super Bowl, World Series, and NBA Finals to name a few. He is the author of six books, including Blazers Profiles, Clyde the Glide, and The Civil War Rivalry: Oregon vs. Oregon State.

"Appreciate the coverage for Oregon State Wrestling and the new coaching staff"

comment by Texas Collegiate Wrestling
"Great Article! Meanwhile perhaps SaveOregonWrestling.org will be allowed to succeed at reinstating college wrestling for the Ducks.

comment by Hank Hosfield
"Good stuff. But no real mention of women's wrestling, which offers the best avenue for promoting the future health of the sport. I believe Pendletop understands this and is looking forward to expanding opportunities of both sexes. He already has four women training at the Dam Wrestling Club. When does OSU push to establish a collegiate program for women? There are already seven women's college wrestling programs in Oregon, so local competition isn't an issue. Kerry, did you guys discuss this at all?

P.S. comment by John Dustin
"As a lifelong supporter of OSU wrestling, I'm hoping that OSU will support the addition of a Women's program.

Oregon Wrestling also needs John Canzano to comment.

Remember to Click "Like" when visiting RCWOR's website and remember that EOU received a startup fund of $300,000 from State Rep. Greg Smith from the Oregon Legislature to make it happen, and the Mountaineer athletic department began recruiting wrestling student-athletes in the fall of 2016.
