Speedy Beavers Run Past the Roadrunners - Jan. 17, 2015

The OSU vs Cal Bakersfield meet started at 11:00 am. It may have been a little earlier in the morning than most dual meets start, but the wrestlers were ready. Earlybird fans enjoyed some great battles between the Beavers and the Roadrunners, but the Beavers got the better of 9 out of 10 matches, ending up winning with a final score of 32-5!

Action started with at 141, bringing the return to the line-up of Devin Reynolds who had been out with an injury. Devin won by major, a good return to the mat!

149 Abraham Rodriguez, 157 Alex Elder and 165 Seth Thomas followed with wins of their own. 174 went to CSUB's #12 ranked Bryce Hammond (you'll get him next time, Joe).

After an intermission for the television production, 184  (#7) Taylor Meeks started things off in the Beavers favor again, winning the second major of the dual. Although some of the matches were close, came down to the last seconds even, from there on out it was all Beavers.

Cody Crawford won at 197, Nate Keeve at Hwt. #14 -125 Ronnie Bresser III got the crowd to their feet with a first round fall and 133 Jack Hathaway found some revenge of his own, defeating Ian Nickell who had bested him in their last couple of meetings. Seth Thomas also reversed a loss from the past. Congratulations to all match winners!!

Congratulations, Beavers, on victory #1004! Keep it rolling!

For all the details, you can read articles at the Oregon State site, and the Bakersfield site. You can also see a video recap at the Pac-12 site. (You'll have to wait for a short advertisement first, but then there is a recap worth watching.)

For anyone who wants to watch more wrestling and has the Pac-12 network, you can watch 2 meets tomorrow, Stanford vs Cal Poly, then vs Air Force. That same Pac-12 schedule says you can see Bakersfield vs ASU on livestream tomorrow as well.

Meanwhile, the Boxer Open will be in Forest Grove tomorrow, although it sounds like there will not be many Beavers participating. More of them said they will be entered in the Clackamas Open next weekend.

The Beavers officially take to the road for the next couple of weekends, next Friday at Northern Colorado, 6 pm Pacific time, and at South Dakota State on Sunday, Jan 25 at 10 am, Pacific Time.

Go Beavs!
