Coaches' Update Nov 22

Oregon State Wrestling fans,

Hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends! Wrestling took a short break but will be back in full swing in just three short days.

Cliff Keen in Las Vegas - Fri & Sat
The Cliff Keen Invitational will take place this Friday and Saturday, Dec 1 & 2. The Beavers will be participating in this important tournament. You can follow the action on FloWrestling, either by subscription or free. With a subscription, you can watch live video. With a free account you can follow live stats at FloArena. Of course, you can also follow on Oregon State Wrestling's Twitter account.

Your presence in the stands would be appreciated by the coaches and the team, as well. Be sure to wear your orange and black - check the stands and find other Beaver fans to make a block of fans for more support.

For a look at which other wrestlers will be there, check out this article at FloWrestling: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6050362-all-ranked-wrestlers-coming-to-cklv-2017

Coaches' Update Nov 22
Beavers Recap: Last Thursday, the Beavers battled George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where we downed the Patriots 38-9. One of George Masons wins came as a forfeit in the 125-pound weight class. The other came as a decision at 165 pounds, as Billy Bigelow lost a close 4-6 match to George Masons Creed Lumpp. The Beavers then traveled to Annapolis, Maryland, to compete in the Naval Academy's annual Navy Classic tournament. The Beavers ended the day in 11th place with Corey Griego taking home a first-place finish in the 197-pound weight class. Cody Crawford (285) and Seth Mcleod (184) both finished in fifth place.

Coming Up: While many of us are eating Thanksgiving turkey this week, our Beavers will have a week of discipline and training as we prepare for our next big event. Well be heading to the Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 1-2. The Beavers will be able to compete against some of the top individuals in the nation. Follow FloWrestling for live streaming and Twitter for updates from the invitational. For more information on dates and times, check out the link below for our official schedule.

Pledge for Pins: The Pledge for Pins Program is a fundraiser that helps get new faces and talent in the wrestling room. It also helps support former OSU wrestlers, such as Volunteer Assistant Coach Joey Palmer, who are looking to pursue World and Olympic championships. Finally, these funds are used to help athletes travel across the country to develop and diversify their wrestling skills. Attached is our Pledge for Pins flier that provides more information on how the program works

Making a Difference Tournament: On Nov. 26, the Orange Crush Club will host the annual Making a Difference Tournament in the Merrit Truax Indoor Practice Facility at Oregon State University. We highly encourage young athletes (grades K-12) to come and compete! Preregistration is required before Friday, Nov. 24 at 9 p.m. For more information on tournament details, click the link below.
