Wrestling Team Heading For the Desert

Las Vegas Convention Center
Now that all the turkey and dressing has been eaten - hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! - it is time for the Beavers to pack their bags and head for Las Vegas, Nevada. One of the big, early season tournaments, the Cliff Keen Collegiate Invitational, takes place Dec 2 and 3, this coming Friday and Saturday.

If you are still looking for a reason to visit Las Vegas, this is it. Many of the top teams in the country will be there, along with all six of the Pac-12 teams. The Cliff Keen website has all the information you are looking for. You will find the list of all the participating teams, the schedule, ticket information, location, where to stay, etc.

A few tips - Tickets: sold only at the door and cash only. $40 gets you an all-session pass. Location: the venue has been moved back to the Las Vegas Convention Center where it has been for quite some time - except for last year, so don't go back to where you went last year! (And if you like "Cowboy Christmas" - the all-cowboy-all-the-time gift show extravaganza, you'll probably be passing right by it on your way to the wrestling!) Schedule: wrestling begins at 9:00 PT on Friday morning.

If you haven't checked osubeavers.com lately, a couple of new articles have appeared on rankings recently. You can check the archives at the previous link to see what you may have missed.

The season goes by so quickly, it is not too early to plan ahead for the end. Don't forget about the fan bus to Stanford for the Pac-12's, coming up Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017. We need to figure out whether or not to go ahead with plans with the bus company. So far we have 10 people signed up. We need 30 more to make it possible. Let me know ASAP if you are interested.

A few details about the bus trip to help you decide (based on how it went the first time we did this): the bus would travel from Corvallis to Palo Alto, it takes about 10 hours or so driving time, add in some time for rest stops, passenger pick-up (possible pick-up stops: Coburg, Roseburg and Ashland), refueling and a lunch break in Redding, CA. The bus takes everyone to a central hotel, takes us to Stanford for the tournament, to a Social after and back to hotel, then returns to Corvallis the following day. Cost will probably be around $85/person for FALL Club members, more for others.

If you have any questions about the bus trip, let me know.

One last bit of business - we've had lots of problems with FALL Club members not finding their email updates lately. This has to do with email providers trying to reduce spam, not me deciding to remove you from the list!

Sometimes these group emails end up in spam folders or in the case of g-mail, sorted into other categories of email called, "promotions", "social", "updates" or "forums". Those tabs are the headers to your email. "Primary" is the main category.

There are some things you can do to try to stop this. One is to create a "whitelist" of emails that you want to receive mail from. One way is to make sure you have my email address in your address book. For instructions and further detail, check this page
http://sci.scientific-direct.net/wl.html. If you hear of anyone saying they haven't received their email lately, please share this with them. I hope this helps.

Bring home some Las Vegas bling, guys! Go Beavs!
