Session 1 Complete - Two Beavers Advance

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

Session I has been completed at the NCAA's in Cleveland with two Beavers advancing in the championship  bracket, 125 Ronnie Bresser and Hwt. Amar Dhesi! Ronnie won by 5-4, coming back after being down 3-2 at the end of the first period. Amar led the whole way, winning 6-1. Congratulations to Ronnie and Amar! Keep it rolling!

Hunter Willits and Corey Griego both dropped to the consolation bracket after morning losses. Hunter's match was close, as many of his matches have been this year, losing only 3-1 in OT. Corey, who didn't seem to have his usual energy, lost 9-3.

With no bonus points to add to their total, Oregon State has 2 points and is in a 6 way tie for 34th with Columbia, Navy, North Dakota State, Princeton and Rider. The top five teams are: Iowa(18.5), Ohio St(17.0), Penn State(16), NC State(12) and Michigan(11).

For all the team scores, look under the "Teams and Results" tab  on FloWrestling. You will also find the updated brackets on that same page.

For a few more details, scroll through the Oregon State Twitter feed. Evan Hooper (Oregon State's SID  rep for wrestling) has been putting up the link to the mat for viewing on ESPN3 as the Beavers come up in the rotation. If you go to those links, you can scroll through the video and find the matches you want to watch or re-watch the entire thing. You do have to get the right mat camera, but you can get that from Evan's links. The links are large with a picture of the logo and the mat number on them.

Session II starts at 4:00 pm Pacific, 7:00 Eastern this evening. Corey Griego might be the first of the Beavers to wrestle tonight as he has a pigtail match in the consolation round. Not sure of how it will run. They may have 4 mats of championship bracket at the same time as consolations on 4 mats, then Ronnie will be up first at 125.

Let's go, Beavs - keep everyone wrestling on Friday morning!!

Go Beavs!
