Cliff Keen IV

RJ Pena had 3 falls!
Session 3 was Saturday morning. Sakaguchi, Pena and Meeks were still in the tournament and all three made it to the finals event Saturday afternoon, Session 4, in the third and fourth place matches. RJ Pena took third at 157. Scott Sakaguchi was fourth at 149, Taylor Meeks was 4th at 197. Congratulations to all! The Beavers placed 12th as a team. Oklahoma won the team title, Nebraska was second.

  There was second session of the Cliff Keen Tournament in the evening, beginning at 6:00. The Beavers had 3 wrestlers in the Quarter finals - Scott Sakaguchi, RJ Pena and Taylor Meeks - and one in Consolations - Joe Latham - in the evening session.

The Cliff Keen Wrestling Tournament was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, December 6 & 7, 2013. The Oregon State Beavers were one of 32 teams competing.

Wrestling started at 9:00 in the morning on Friday. Session I was not complete until about 3:00, lots of bouts for fans to watch! Everyone had at least two matches before the session was over.

Minnesota Dual IV

174 - Joe Latham
There were four weight classes left. The Beavers were up against some of the top ranked wrestlers in the country, including #2 Scott Schiller at 197 and #1 Anthony Nelson at Hwt None of the last contests went the way of the Beavers, so the Gophers emerged from Gill as the Top Rodent, winning the Rodent Rumble, 28-12.

165 - Elder vs Zilverberg
  165 pounder Alex Elder followed up his roommate, RJ Pena. Not to be outdone, Alex worked his way out of a deficit to end with a last second fall of his own. The crowd, as they say, went wild!

Minnesota Dual II

157 - RJ Pena vs Brandon Kingsley
  A big shift in momentum in the meet between the Oregon State Beavers and the Minnesota Golden Gophers occurred in the next two matches, at 157 and 165.

RJ Pena was up at 157. He brought the crowd to its feet with a second period pin!

Minnesota Dual I


Fans packed in to root for the Beavs
2138 enthusiastic fans were on hand to watch "The Rodent Rumble" in Gill Coliseum on Nov. 30 when the Oregon State Beavers hosted the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Action started with the 125 weight class and ran through the line up.

The first three matches went to the Gophers. The Beavers almost picked up the fourth match with Scott Sakaguchi losing a close battle by one point of riding time.
