Coaches' Update Nov 22
Beavers Recap: Last Thursday, the Beavers battled George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where we downed the Patriots 38-9. One of George Masons wins came as a forfeit in the 125-pound weight class. The other came as a decision at 165 pounds, as Billy Bigelow lost a close 4-6 match to George Masons Creed Lumpp. The Beavers then traveled to Annapolis, Maryland, to compete in the Naval Academy's annual Navy Classic tournament. The Beavers ended the day in 11th place with Corey Griego taking home a first-place finish in the 197-pound weight class. Cody Crawford (285) and Seth Mcleod (184) both finished in fifth place.

Coming Up: While many of us are eating Thanksgiving turkey this week, our Beavers will have a week of discipline and training as we prepare for our next big event. Well be heading to the Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 1-2. The Beavers will be able to compete against some of the top individuals in the nation. Follow FloWrestling for live streaming and Twitter for updates from the invitational. For more information on dates and times, check out the link below for our official schedule.

More Notes on Navy Classic
Following - The links to Flowrestling for live stats do not seem to work, neither at OSU's schedule page or Navy's most recent article. (See this article for more news about the tournament, especially if you plant to attend.) I have not been able to access the event at Flo through those links nor have I found the Navy Classic in searches of their events. Perhaps it just is not up yet.

I mentioned last time that FloWrestling was by subscription. It is, but you may also sign up for a free account which should give you access to the live stats. Sometimes they also provide video. For video you would need to be a paid subscriber.

Meanwhile, thanks to Craig Scharer for sending a link to an interesting article at Intermat about the Navy Classic. The subject is "Five Interesting Things to Watch For at the Navy Classic."

Beavers Are Road Tripping & FALL Membership Deadline Coming Up!

Beavers on the Road This Week
Thurs - George Mason
Streaming Link
Sat - Navy Classic
FALL Membership Drive Deadline

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

By now the Beaver wrestling team is probably off on the road for an East Coast tour. Tomorrow, Thursday, Nov 16, they pay a visit to the George Mason Patriots in Fairfax, VA. On Saturday Oregon State team will be in Maryland.

Thurs - George Mason
Any Beaver fans back there? This is your chance to root for the Beavers in your area. It's always nice to have friendly faces in the crowd when you are on the road! Wrestling starts at 4:00 pm PT, 7 pm EST.

Read more about the weekend, rankings, who will be traveling, etc. at the osubeavers.com site. You can also scout from the George Mason side by reading their latest news article.

Streaming Link
If you can't be there, George Mason has a live-streaming video option. You can also access the link from the George Mason wrestling schedule page. It does appear that this streaming is by subscription. You can purchase a 24 hour pass for $6.95. No guarantees from me on how well it works. Most seem to be better than they used to be when they began.

You can also follow with live stats by TrackWrestling. That link should take you directly to the meet page.

Sat - Navy Classic
After the dual in Virginia, the Beavers head over to Annapolis, Maryland, for a dual tournament at Navy. You can read an article on Navy's latest news from last weekend. If you read the above mentioned article, the last paragraph refers to the Navy Classic. Live stats will be available through FloWrestling, which is also by subscription. The link can be found on both OSU's schedule page and Navy's schedule page. Wrestling starts at 10:00 am EST, 7 am PST.

Oregon State will see the Navy team again shortly after this tournament. Both are participating in the Cliff Keen Tournament in Las Vegas in early December. the difference will be the style of tournament. I believe the Navy Classic is a dual tournament team where teams face off. Cliff Keen is an individual tournament.

FALL Membership Drive Deadline
Just because the Beavers will be on the road until January does not mean that "The FALL" Fan club has nothing to do! We are still in our main membership drive for 2017-18! The deadline to be included is coming up soon - November 20 - that's Monday of next week!

You have two ways of signing up - either through our on-line portal with a credit card or the old fashioned way with a paper application form and your check.

We really recommend using the portal and a credit card. That system automates much of the record keeping for us and even sends you an automatic receipt, so you know for sure you have been registered! Since all of the Board members are volunteers, it helps us get the job done more efficiently and we are very appreciative of that!!

Of course, we are still more than happy to accept your application in the mail along with your check. You can find the application form on page 2 of the file attached to this email. Print out that page, fill it in, be sure to write down all the names to be included, and mail it to Michael Denison, our Treasurer. His address is listed on the form. Don't forget to include your check!

If you are mailing in the form, please include an email address if you have one. If we don't have a current email address for you, you will miss out on all the wrestling news!

Reminder - for those of you who have been with us for a while. Please keep your email address up to date with us!

Why the deadline, especially when you know that we will accept your membership later? Again, it is for efficiency. The FALL Board will get together for a Work Party soon. We put together membership packets which will then be mailed out to you. If you need lanyards for your ID badge, you may pick those up at a Social. The lapel pins might be mailed, or you may have to pick them up. We have not decided that yet.

Remember, lapel pins are guaranteed only for the first 200 who sign up. If we get many more members than that, we may order more. If not, it will be just be the 200.

A big THANK YOU! to all of you who have already signed up! We have had a good response so far.

If you have any questions about any of this, please do not hesitate to ask!

Okay, Beavers! Show those East Coast guys that we know how to wrestle out here on the West Coast!

Go Beavs!
