Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

The Intrasquad is done, now it is time to move on to the real thing - competition from outside the Room!

Home Opener - Thurs. Nov 9 - 7 pm
The Beavers welcome the relatively new (revived a few years ago after being dropped quite a while ago) Eastern Oregon Mountaineers to Gill on Thursday, November 9 at 7 pm.

The Ticket Office and the doors will open at 6 pm. If you are purchasing your ticket, you have to enter through the main doors on the east side of Gill. If you are a season ticket holder and have your ticket. you should be able to enter on the south side doors as well.

Parking in the lots around Gill and Reser is free. Handicapped spaces are located on the east (front) side of Gill.

Scouting EOU
If you'd like to read up on the Mountaineers, their latest article covers their home opener with the University of Providence. Don't forget to say hello to the Assistant Coach, Ty Vinson who was a Beaver just a few short years ago!

Oregon State also has an article out, with more information on who might be starting, especially at 149, 165 and 174. You can find that story at osubeavers.com. Some decisions are yet to be made.

Live-streaming?
Over the weekend, the decision was made to have streaming video. So far, no link has been put up. I will let you know if I can where exactly to find that if they do get it arranged. If you haven't heard from me and can't be there, check the OSU article page and the schedule page. Those are the most common places to find streaming video links.

If you can't be at the meet, another possibility would be to check TrackWrestling.com for live stats. They covered the Intrasquad, so they might cover this meet as well.

Social after the Meet
"The FALL" Fan Club will be hosting a Social after the conclusion of the meet. It will be held in the Loge, level 2 of Reser Stadium. You will find a small door open at the NE corner of the stadium, just across the street from Gill. Enter the door, turn left and take the elevator up to the second level.

Since we have just started our membership drive for the year, this Social will be open to all. Donations will be accepted at the door. Board members will be present to take your donations and help you sign up to join the club.

This will be our first try at a different style of Social. The previous caterer was too expensive for the amount of food we got, so our Treasury took a hit. This year, "The FALL" is assisting parents to provide a tail-gate style of food for your munching pleasure as you visit and enjoy the short program. We hope you enjoy it!

Of course, we will continue to have door prizes. Everyone gets one free ticket and you may purchase more - $1 each or 6 for $5. You will find the prizes laid out by small bowls. Tear your ticket in half and drop one in the bowl beside the item you'd like to win. Keep the other to check the numbers when they are called.

Join "the FALL" Fan Club
As mentioned, we have started our membership drive for the year. Here is how to do it:

You have several ways of signing up - either with your credit card on-line or the old fashioned way of printing out the form, filling it out and mailing it in along with your check. You can also bring it along and hand it to any Board member at "The FALL" table in Gill before the meets or at the Social in The Club.

On-line method: Simple. Go to the Portal for "The FALL" at https://squareup.com/store/the-fall-fanclub/
Once there,  all you have to do is scroll down the page to find the options you want - membership, extra donations to help us fund activities, and merchandise that can be purchased.

We'd really like to encourage everyone who can use the on-line method to do so. The system takes care of much of the paperwork for both the Treasurer and the Membership Coordinators. I have done both and I know how much time that can take!

Paper Method: If you can't wrangle a computer, then please go ahead and do it the regular paper method. Just print out the file, fill it in and mail the form and your check to our Treasurer, Michael Denison. His mailing address is on the form. I have attached the file with the letter of invitation and the membership application form to this email.

We will also be available in the lobby of Gill until about 10Convention Center till 7, then at a table by the door in the Loge at the Social where you may sign up in person.

Upcoming Events
Coming up next Sunday, Nov. 12, will be the Mike Clock Open at Pacific University in Forest Grove. This is an all day event, beginning at 9 am. Most of the team will participate, as this is one of the open tournaments. It is a fun way to see how the team stacks up against other competition.

You might want to start making your plans to attend the Cliff Keen Tournament in Las Vegas, NV, Dec. 1-2, in the Convention Center. According to their web page, this year they will be located in Hall N4, which means they will be right up front, along Paradise Rd. No more long walk down the concourse to C5!

The Cliff Keen is a great tournament - with competition the most like what you would find at the NCAA's this far out west. Take advantage of it!!

Save the Date - Banquet
While the Banquet is our celebration at the end of the season, we actually have the date picked out.  April 14th, 2018, Saturday, will be the date, put it on your calendar, please! More information closer to the actual date.

Coaches Update
If you have not received the latest update form the Coaching staff, I have pasted it below.  One spoiler alert from their update - Congratulations to Volunteer Assistant Coach Joey Palmer on his championship at the International Clansman Tournament at Simon Fraser University! His match in the finals was a win over Cory Clark at 61 kg. Way to go, Joey!!

Also note, if you want tickets to the NCAA's, now is the time to put your name on the list - see Coaches update!

It's a Thursday, but let's have a great turnout to help get our new, young team started on the right track!! Thursday - Gill - 7pm - be there!!
