Bresser & Calkins Place at Midlands - OSU is 12th
Oregon State finished up the Midlands tournament this evening with 2 placers, both at 125 lbs. Ronnie Bresser III took second, and Kegan Calkins finished in 6th place. Congratulations to both Ronnie & Kegan!!
Winter term classes start for the wrestlers next week, but they also get back on the road, heading to Michigan for the first Joe Wells Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Thursday, January 7. The Classic honors Coach Joe Wells, who died this past spring. Coach Wells was an Assistant Coach at Michigan before he was the Head Coach at Oregon State.

Ronnie (Rios) Bresser has made the finals at the Midlands Tournament! Ronnie won his semifinal match with Tim Lambert of Nebraska by fall. Ronnie will face the #1 seed, thomas Gilman of Iowa in tonight's finals.
Kegan Calkins kept up his battle through the consolation brackets by pinning his opponent from Purdue. In the match to determine who wrestles for third, Kegan gave up the fall to Lambert, so Kegan will be in the 5th & 6th place match in tonight's finals.

Beavers in 6th After Day 1 of Midlands!
The Oregon State Beavers took a few more hits in the evening session, but they managed to claw their way up to 6th place at the Midlands Tournament back in Evanston, Illinois.
Only one Beaver survived the Championship Quarterfinals, Ronnie (Rios) Bresser at 125.
Kegan Calkins, Joey Palmer, Joey Delgado, Seth Thomas, Corey Griego and Amar Dhesi remain in the Consolation brackets. Hang in there, Beavs!

Midlands - Tuesday & Wednesday!
Oregon State Wrestling Fans,
Hope
everyone had a great Christmas! Time for the Oregon State wrestlers to
step back out onto the mat at the Midlands Tournament back in Evanston,
Illinois, Dec 29 & 30! Wrestling begins at 7:30 am Pacific Standard
Time, 9:30 Central.
The
Midlands Tournament will be covered by TrackWrestling, so it should be a
little easier to follow what is happening for those who aren't members
of Flowrestling. Here are a few tidbits I have picked up from various
sources:
Kegan Calkins, Ronnie Stevens, Jared
Reis, Kennen Lanteri & Tyler Chay will be joining the starters, so
there will be more than the usual ten wrestlers to follow.

TrackWrestling. That link takes you straight to the tournament on the
TrackWrestling site. Once there, find the blue bar across the top of the
page, click on RESULTS. That drops down a menu where you can find
"Brackets". The brackets are already posted. Once things start, you can use that link for results or live stats, etc.
The Beavers picked up several seeds - at 125: Ronnie Bresser (listed as Rios) is seeded second, Kegan Calkins at #8. At 133, Joey Palmer is seeded #8. Joey Delgado is #12 at 149, Seth Thomas #10 at 165, Cody Crawford #11 at 197 and Amar Dhesi is second at 285.

Beavers Shut Down Clackamas 45-0
As
you may have expected, the Beavers took all ten matches tonight, plus
one more at the end with an exhibition match-up of 125's.
While Clackamas is a Community College, they are highly ranked in their division. You never want to overlook your opponent and the Cougars came to wrestle. The Beavers made sure they did not underestimate their opposition.
At 125 Ronnie Bresser came out and started things off right with a tech fall. At 133 Joey Palmer added a major decision. Next Jack Hathaway won by decision over Ronnie Bresser's brother Zech. Joey Delgado turned what started out to be a close match into another major decision for the Beavers.
At 157 Abraham Rodriguez gave up the first two points but was a second period winner by fall! Seth Thomas followed up with another fall, this time coming in the third period. Next was 174, with Ali Alshujery making his debut on his home mat and coming away with the victory 8-3.
Corey Griego's match concluded with a tech fall in the second period. The closest match of the evening was at 197 between Cody Crawford and John Morin of CCC. Cody squeaked out a 3-2 win. The final match of the meet was at heavyweight. Amar Dhesi was ahead 13-3 before the match was called when his opponent collected too many stalling calls.
The last match of the evening was an exhibition at 125. Kegan Calkins won by 14-4 in a match filled with lots of exciting scrambles. Unfortunately I never managed to catch the name of his opponent and I don't see it in the other articles.

Congratulations also go out to Ron Finley! Ron was the winner of the $50 gift certificate from the drawing of those who got their FALL membership application in by the Nov 6 deadline. Thank you to Ron! and all the rest of you who turned in their applications by the deadline. It really helps the FALL Board get things ready by the time the season arrives!
A big thank you also to FALL Club member Ron Iwasaki who brought a donation of beautiful poinsettias to the Social sponsored by "The FALL" after the meet. Many lucky ladies got to take those gorgeous plants home at the end of the evening.
Can't go without saying thank you to all who traveled to the meet, both Oregon State and Clackamas fans! The weather has been pretty bad with flooding and landslides, but fortunately quite a few fans made it in spite of the weather and the holdiay season.

The final match of the meet was at heavyweight. Amar Dhesi was ahead 13-3 before the match was called when his opponent collected too many stalling calls.
The last match of the evening was an exhibition at 125. Kegan Calkins won by 14-4 in a match filled with lots of exciting scrambles. Unfortunately I never managed to catch the name of his opponent and I don't see it in the other articles.

Congratulations also go out to Ron Finley! Ron was the winner of the $50 gift certificate from the drawing of those who got their FALL membership application in by the Nov 6 deadline. Thank you to Ron! and all the rest of you who turned in their applications by the deadline. It really helps the FALL Board get things ready by the time the season arrives!
A big thank you also to FALL Club member Ron Iwasaki who brought a donation of beautiful poinsettias to the Social sponsored by "The FALL" after the meet. Many lucky ladies got to take those gorgeous plants home at the end of the evening.
Can't go without saying thank you to all who traveled to the meet, both Oregon State and Clackamas fans! The weather has been pretty bad with flooding and landslides, but fortunately quite a few fans made it in spite of the weather and the holdiay season.

The starters are off until Dec 26, then they prepare for the Midlands Dec 29-30, see here for more information.
Austin
Morehead, volunteer assistant coach at OSU, will be participating in
the Senior Nationals this weekend in Las Vegas. This is a qualifying
event for the Olympic Trials which will be held in April. See her for more information on the Nationals. Best of Luck, Austin!!

Wrestling in Gill Friday - Sunday in Reno

Time to set aside the wrapping paper and tinsel and head for Gill Coliseum for some Friday night wrestling! The Beavers shake off the cobwebs and take on the Clackamas Community College Cougars in a home meet beginning at 7:00 pm, this Friday Dec. 18.
For all the details on the meet, check out the latest story at the OSU website here. For the opposing view read the article at the CCC site. One interesting bit of trivia, there will be brothers out on the mat, on opposite sides. Ronnie Bresser III will be Oregon State's 125 while his younger brother Zechariah Bresser will be the 141 for Clackamas.
After the meet, "The FALL" Fan Club will have a Social in the Loge on level two of Reser StadiumBoard member. The Social will be free to all members of "The FALL" and $5/person or $20/family for non-members. There will be door prizes - everyone gets one free ticket and may buy more $1 each or 6 for $5. Finger food will
be available to give you something to do as you mingle while waiting
for the program to start. We have a new caterer this year, so it will be
interesting to see what we will have this time. At the first Social we
had nachos, and they were quite good! Come and visit with old friends
and make some new ones!
Members of "The FALL", your member packets are ready for pick-up.
Board members will be out in the lobby of Gill until about 6:50 pm
where you can get your envelope of goodies (schedule, ID badges, lapel
pins), or sign up if you haven't done that yet. If you miss that
opportunity, you will be able to get your packet at the entry to the
Social in The Loge.

If
you haven't yet turned in your application for membership in "The
FALL", help cut down on the lines by filling out the form ahead of time
and bringing it with you. You can always find the form on "The FALL" blogsite
on the right hand side of the page under "Links". You may download it
and fill it out on your screen before printing, or print it out and fill
it in by hand. Don't forget to bring your check made out to "The FALL"
Fan Club!
The Beavers following action will be on Sunday, Dec 20, at the Reno Tournament of Champions.
The RTOC will be attended by many of the squad, not necessarily all of
the regulars. Then they have a short break for Christmas before heading
off to the Midlands tournament Dec 29 & 30 to close out 2015. FloWrestling will cover both events.

Next Friday the Beavs host Clackamas in Gill Coliseum, Dec 18, at 7 pm.
"The FALL" Fan Club will have the first Social of the regular season following the meet. The Social will be held in the Loge on level 2 of Reser Stadium.
Two
days after the home meet, the Beavers will be in Reno for the annual
Tournament of Champions. You can find more information here: http://rtoc.net/. The RTOC will be held Dec. 20, Sunday.
