NCAA's - Saturday Morning - Session V Photos

Dhesi vs Coon
By Saturday at the NCAA's, everyone still wrestling is an All-American. The morning matches determine who is wrestling for the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th places. Then the matches for 3rd through 8th take place.

Session VI in the evening is the finals.

Oregon State's Amarveer Dhesi wrestled in Session V. His first match was a loss to Adam Coon of Michigan. Dhesi's second and final match was with #4 seed, Austin Marsden of Oklahoma State. Dhesi made short work of it, pinning Marsden in 1:29.

Congratulations to Mr. Dhesi on his Fifth Place All-American finish!!

NCAA Final Results - Oregon State Holds at 21st

The dust is settling at Madison Square Gardens and the lights are going out. Penn State has won another team title. Oregon State hung onto 21st, with a total of 22.0 points.

The Beavers finished ahead of all the participating  Pac-12 teams except Stanford. Stanford placed 19th with 24 points. Arizona State and Bakersfield tied for 36 with 9.5 points. Boise State finished 43 with 6.0 points. (Cal Poly did not have any NCAA qualifiers.)

The scrappy Beavers walked away with only one All-American, Amar Dhesi, but their individual points added up, just like they did at the Pac-12's. Everyone contributed to the point total, and bonus points added up. Congratulations to the Oregon State Wrestling team!!

If you like photos, be sure to check out the posts at "The FALL's blogsite. Michael Denison, FALL Board member, has been busy taking pictures at the NCAA's. His photos are in several posts. Check the titles under "Blog Archive" on the right side, or simply scroll down through the posts.

That brings the 2015-16 season to a close. It has been an down and up season, but in the end the Beavers showed that you can't count them out.

They brought home their fifth Pac-12 trophy in a row, sent six wrestlers to the NCAA's and showed they really did belong in the top 25 teams, even though they had been dropped from the rankings here and there along their roller coaster ride.

On behalf of the FALL Board and the entire FALL Fan Club, congratulations and thank you to the Oregon State Wrestling team, the coaches and staff for a job well done!

Don't forget - the season banquet will be coming up soon. The date is still to be determined. As soon as we have a date, I will let you know.

Speaking of dates, don't forget the Oregon Chapter of the Wrestling Hall of Fame will have their annual banquet on April 30. For more information, contact Len Kauffman.

All-American Dhesi - Fifth Place by Fall!

Amarveer Dhesi wasn't going to let there be any question about where he stands on the medal podium. He finished off his season by fall in the first period of his fifth-sixth place match today.

Congratulations, Amar Dhesi!

The brackets are now complete, except for the championship finals, which will take place this evening, starting 5 pm PDT. ESPN will televise the finals live.

Oregon State's article is out.

If you want to see any of the matches again, or missed them before, you can watch replay video. Use the live-streaming link to ESPN3. Be sure you have the "Replay" tab open, not "Live Now" or "upcoming". It helps to know what mat you are looking for. For instance, to see Dhesi's final match, it is on the 3/19 11:00 EDT, Mat 1 Medal Round link. Once you are at the video, it is on the far end of the scroll bar. (If you push the stop button, it is easier to move the tab across the video bar.) Or just watch the entire tournament if you want!

You can also get to the replay videos by using the TrackWrestling link. click the Live Video option, that will take you to the ESPN3 site.

Oregon State is currently in 21st place. That could change with the finals still to come, if anyone should pass us. Of the Pac-12 schools, only Stanford is slightly ahead, in 19th place.

All-American! One Beaver Left to Wrestle Saturday!!

We have one All-American, Amarveer Dhesi!!

Heavyweight Dhesi battled his way back from his quarterfinal loss with two wins this evening. That put him into Saturday morning's match that determines whether he wrestles for third/fourth place or for fifth/sixth place. Dhesi will face Adam Coon of Michigan in the match to determine placement.

Unfortunately, Ronnie Bresser ran into his Pac-12 foe, Connor Schram, and lost to him for the third time this year. It was a close match, but it  ended Bresser's tournament.
