Session III Results - 2 Beavers Remain

Wrestling art at Madison Square Garden
Session III on Friday mornings at the NCAA's is a meatgrinder. The first two matches for Oregon State started the morning on a high note. Ronnie Bresser won by fall! Joey Palmer won by major decision! But after that, things took a turn for the heartbreaker.

Joey Delgado lost the morning's first heartbreaker to Geo Martinez of Boise. So close, just of few seconds of riding time gave the match to Martinez. That eliminated Joey. Then Seth Thomas was eliminated. Corey Griego almost pulled out another big upset of the #4 seed, but lost another Beaver heartbreaker in tiebreaker OT, eliminating Corey.

Amarveer Dhesi was our last man in the Championship bracket. Unfortunately, he came up against the #2 seed, a freestyle World Champion. That dropped Dhesi into the Consolation bracket with the other Beavers.

Another round of Consolations took more of a toll. While Bresser won his match, Palmer lost another close match, by a one point decision. More heartbreak!

That leaves just two Beavers left to fight for their position in tonight's brackets, Ronnie Bresser and Amar Dhesi. If they can win their first match tonight, both will be assured of All-American status.

Updated brackets are out.

If not, TrackWrestling will have live stats, and possibly video. The link to TrackWrestling can be found at the top of the NCAA page under "Live Scoring".
