NCAA's This Week & Other Wrestling News

Before we cover details of NCAA's, here is a look at Pac-12 news:

Cal Poly will be looking to replace their Head Wrestling Coach, as Brendon Buckley has resigned to take a position directing a program for at risk youth in New York City called Beat the Streets. It introduces these youth to wrestling. Intermat has an article with all the details. Thank you to Craig Scharer for sharing that story link with me!

In case you missed it in all of the news surrounding the Pac-12 Championships, it is worth repeating that the Pac-12 released their announcement of the Pac-12 Team of the Century. Congratulations to all who made the list, especially Pac-12 Wrestler of the Century - Les Gutches, and Pac-12 Coach of the Century - the late Dale Thomas!  Beavers on the team included Babak Mohammadi, Robin Reed, Roger Weigel, Dan Hicks, Les Gutches, Greg Strobel, Howard Harris, Jess Lewis and Larry Bielenberg.

Remember, the next list like this won't be released for another 84 years or so. I don't think I'll be notifying you about that one! All the details can be found in this Pac-12 article. Thank you to Len Kauffman for sharing that link!

Now for details on the NCAA's, which start Thursday, March 17 and conclude Saturday, March 19 with the finals at 5 pm PDT.

First of all, an updated version of the NCAA brackets are out. Thanks to Craig Scharer for sending them my way. These brackets have days added. Craig also has highlighted each Beaver wrestler's name in yellow, making it easier for you to spot them in their bracket. Thanks, Craig!

All of the action at the tournament can be followed whether you are there or not. FALL Board member Michael Denison shared a link to the ESPN Media Zone press release. All mats at all sessions will be live-streamed, some will be televised. ESPN3 will be doing the live-stream. All the details on how to watch or how to find the mat you want are in this press release. Of course the finals will be televised live on ESPN. It looks like the semi's on Friday will also be on ESPN television
. Check the article for more details. Thanks, Michael!

For all the wrestlers, coaches and fans who will be making the trip to New York - Happy & Safe Travels! Cheer hard! Fans who are packing their bags, remember to take the team colors. Wear Orange on Thursday, Black on Friday and Orange on Saturday.
