Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

Wrestling Season is underway! Tonight the Black team bested the Orange team by a score of 28-12, with a lot of new faces on display.

Intrasquad Results
The meet opened with a pair of matches between 149's. The meet ended with the winners of the first two matches wrestling for the top spot. Izaak Tobin won the first match by tech fall over Alex Rich, Kurt Mode beat Connor Noonan 6-1.

There was no match at 125, presumably that spot will be filled by Ronnie Bresser. 133 was a very close match between Kegan Calkins and Devan Turner. Devan scored the first point with an escape in the second period. More points were scored in the third period with Kegan taking the lead until the final seconds when Devan managed to collect  a reversal and back points to win 8-4.

141 saw Jack Hathaway defend his spot in the line-up by defeating Grant Willits 8-3. At 157 Grant's twin, Hunter Willits, won by major decision, 13-0 over Rodney Williams.

At 165 Aaron Olmos, another true freshman, won over Drake McKee, a sophomore, by steadily building the score 8-3. Another true freshman picked off the 174 weight as Myles Terry won a major decision over Joe DeMatteo.

184 was a very closely matched contest between Seth McLeod and Bob Coleman. The score was tied at zero until the final period when Seth got an escape to add a point to his point for riding time from riding Bob the entire second period, winning 2-0.

197 was a quick match. Corey Griego won by fall over Adam Rateb in the second period after leading 6-0 in the first period.  At Hwt - two guys who grew up not far from each other, Cody Crawford and Josh Parazoo, squared off. The score was fairly close with Cody winning 5-3.

That left the final - the battle for 149 between Izaak Tobin and Kurt Mode. It looked for a while like the senior Tobin would take the match, but Mode, a sophomore, came back from a deficit to win 7-4.

Some of these spots may have challenges during the season, so it will be interesting to see if they stay the same all year.

EOU in Gill Thursday - 7 pm
The home opener takes place on Thursday Nov 9 vs a fairly new Oregon team - Eastern Oregon University. For those of you who are not able to travel to Corvallis for the meet, I have been assured that live-streaming will be available. I do not know yet where you will be able to find the link, but when I find out, I will pass that along.

Go Beavs!
