Thomas & Hamblin - Named Hansen Medal Winners from OSU

A couple of items in this weeks' news pertaining to wrestling. First, Seth Thomas has been awarded the Hansen Medal from the Pac-12, along with Ruth Hamblin. Congratulations to Seth and Ruth!

Gold Medalist Rulon Gardner In Salem - Tuesday Evening

Rulon Gardner, Olympic Gold Medalist Heavyweight  Greco-Roman wrestler and brother of Reynold Gardner - FALL Board member and former Beaver wrestler - will be coming to Salem for a talk.

Rulon's presentation will take place at 7:30 at the Elsinore Theater in Salem on Tuesday, June 14.

Greetings to all-

We want to invite everyone to our 8^th Annual Dale Thomas Golf Outing, with a rescheduled date of July 18^th!  We have rescheduled this great day of fun and important fundraiser for Oregon State Wrestling and The Orange Crush Wrestling Club, still to be held at The Corvallis Country Club. We are extending an invitation and hope many of you will take us up on the opportunity for a great day of fun, benefiting a great cause. The Orange Crush Wrestling Club benefits wrestlers of all ages in The Willamette Valley and beyond. The Orange Crush offers year-round wrestling opportunities for local youth, free weekend camps and clinics, funding for out of season competition for the college athletes, and sponsorship for post collegiate wrestlers chasing their Olympic and International Wrestling Dreams. Without the support of The Orange Crush and friends and supporters of the club, none of this would be possible! Attached is information on the Dale Thomas Golf Outing for 2016!

The event will include lunch, 18 holes of Golf, a Golf Cart, Awards, Dinner, and Silent Auction. Coach Zalesky and staff will be on hand and want to share some updates with the program-staff additions, new recruits, and a 2016-2017 season schedule and outlook. We are excited about many returners and some fresh faces joining the program. We have had a good spring season of lifting and training and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.

New Date For Dale Thomas Golf Tournament

The 18th Annual Dale Thomas Classic Golf Tournament date has been changed. it will be held at the Corvallis Country Club on July 18. The original date was June 10, this coming Friday.

Here is a quick update from Assistant Coach Kevin Roberts on the details: We hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying the great warm weather! As many of you already know, we had to move our annual Dale Thomas Golf Outing back from the previously scheduled date of June 10th. We will now be hosting the Dale Thomas Golf Outing, Dinner, and Auction on July 18th. We will still be at The Corvallis Country Club, with check-in at 12 Noon and we will be teeing off at 1:30 PM. 

 

Hopefully, we will be see many of you in Corvallis. We are looking forward to hopefully providing some new insight into the program, seeing many friends and supporters, and sharing a great afternoon with you all. I will send along an updated flyer ASAP and hope to see many of you out at the links!

The new date also comes with a new price. Join us for just $100 per golfer, $400 per team. You can also attend the awards dinner and auction for just $25.

We are looking for individual golfers, foursomes, and Hole Sponsors. As always we appreciate the support, and know that many things we are able to do would not be possible, without all of the generosity of our supporters. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to join in the fun.

Two Beavs Earn "Benny's", Dhesi Awarded the Top

Two Beaver Wrestlers picked up "Benny's" at the recent Benny Awards ceremony, the 18th annual awards program held last Wednesday evening on campus.

Amar Dhesi won the top award for men, the Male Athlete of the Year Award. Congratulations to Amar!

Seth Thomas won one of three Scholar/Athlete Benny Awards. Congratulations to Seth!

Next Friday, June 10, will be the Annual Dale Thomas Golf Classic for all you wrestling fans who are also golfers - and anyone wishing to show up for the barbecue!

For a few words on the importance of this fundraiser, read on for a message from Assistant Coach Kevin Roberts:

The Northwest Regional Training Center is the Non-Profit Wrestling Club that benefits wrestlers of all ages in and around Oregon. The NWRTC provides practice, training camps, instruction and athlete sponsorship for wrestlers from the youth level all the way through aspiring Olympians . The club allows youngsters to train throughout the year at Oregon State, attend weekend training camps at no cost, and college and post collegiate athletes chase their dream of representing The USA in the red, white, and blue.

We are hosting our 8th annual Dale Thomas Golf Outing and Dinner on June 10th. We would like to invite everyone out to The Corvallis Country Club to Golf, visit, eat and attend our dinner and auction. We are also searching for Individual Hole and Corporate Sponsors. If you would like to be involved and help a great cause, we would love to have you join us. Individual Golfers, Teams of Four, Sponsorships - none are too big or small.

We aspire to build wrestling at all levels in Oregon and the region, and know we can do it with the help of many people! If you are interested, please let me know!
