Two Beavers Make it to Saturday at Cliff Keen!

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

Friday took its toll on the Oregon State Wrestling team, but two Beavers emerged from the fray to continue on Saturday. The team accumulated 32.5 points putting them in 19th place. Ohio State leads the tournament with Missouri, Nebraska, Northern Iowa and Michigan rounding out the top 5.

Ronnie Bresser will be in the semi's after rolling through his Friday matches. Congratulations, Ronnie!

Hunter Willits lost his match this evening, but he will continue Saturday morning in the consolation brackets.

Both Colt Doyle and Jamarcus Grant also wrestled this evening. Colt lost a close 2-5 decision to the #5 seed. Jamarcus took his opponent to the wire, losing 1-2 in Second Tie-Breaker.

Read all about the Beavers' individual matches and results in the osubeaver.com article. If you scroll through the days' tweets on the Beavers' Twitter Feed, you'll find a couple of video clips of Ronnie Bresser and a clip from the Beavers' practice in the morning.

Consolation Round 7 begins at 9:00 am, and the semi's start at 10:00 in the morning. Go Ronnie! Go Hunter!

Cliff Keen - Las Vegas - This Weekend!

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

The Beavers will soon, if not already,  be heading south to Las Vegas for the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational, held in the Las Vegas Convention Center this Friday, Nov 30 and Saturday, Dec 1.

For those of you who will be going, remember - all tickets are by cash only and only available at the door! An All Session pass is $40, so be sure you have enough cash with you. It is Las Vegas, so you know an ATM is not too far away, but you may have to walk a ways to get to it.

Lots of information has been coming out on the tournament. Here are a few links for you:
FloWrestling's main information page on Cliff Keen - you can log in there to watch live
FloArena - where you can go for live stats

Don't forget - still time to get signed up as a member of The FALL Fan Club, Official Fan Club of Oregon State Wrestling! Fill out the membership form (link is on the right side of this page) and send it in the mail along with your check, or use your credit card through our online Portal:
https://squareup.com/store/the-fall-fanclub/
Deadline is Dec 5.

On the side, for all of you who are looking out the window at dark and rainy or snowy weather, enjoy the pictures attached. They were put together by former Oregon State wrestler Garrett Drucker, who took the photos recently while he was sailing. He and two others took turns at the helm, sailing from Southern California to Mexico and back. They had to shelter in a cove for a couple of days waiting for a windstorm to pass, otherwise the weather looked pretty good! Thanks for sharing, Garrett!

Time to Sign Up for "The FALL"!

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

The days are falling off the calendar like leaves off the trees in an autumn windstorm. It will soon be December 9 and time for the Beavers to defend their home mat against the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners. Are you ready? Have you joined "The FALL" Fan Club yet? "The FALL" will be sponsoring a Social following the meet with the Roadrunners.

For all those who have already paid your dues - thank you very much! For those who have not - you have two easy ways of joining the Club for the 2018-19 season.
  • Use your credit card on-line using the portal for the Club: https://squareup.com/store/the-fall-fanclub/
  • Use the form in the file under the Membership link on the right side of this page. Mail that form in along with your check to the address given on the form.

Are you saying to yourself - why should I join, I can't make it to the meets?! Well, you can still support the team by joining even if you can't come. One of the purposes of "The FALL" is to raise funds to host the Awards Banquet for the team at the end of the season. You dues will help pay for the team's dinner as well as the Socials for the fans during the season.

So don't put it off any longer, the deadline for joining is December 5. You can join after that, of course, but that deadline helps us to get the bulk of the memberships in and ready for us to put together member packets.

Cliff Keen - Las Vegas!
Looking ahead to the end of the week, the Beavers will be in Las Vegas at the Cliff Keen Tournament at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more information, check out this link as shared by Craig Scharer: Thanks, Craig!

Wrestling This Weekend!

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

Mike Clock Open - Sunday Nov 11
Oregon State opens its season on the road this Sunday, Nov 11,  when the entire team travels up to Forest Grove, OR, for the Mike Clock Open. The tournament starts at 9:00 am and lasts much of the day usually. This year the Women Wrestlers have their tournament at the Mike Clock on Saturday, Nov. 10. The tournament is held in the Stoller Center on Pacific University's campus.

This is a great chance to get to watch the whole team get a chance out on the mat, especially for folks in the Portland area. Even if you can't stay all day, stop in and give the Beavers a cheer out on the mat.

Follow on TrackWrestling
For a list some of the teams that will be on hand, check the article at osubeavers.com. If you are wondering how there could be teams from Oregon, Washington and Washington State, I believe those are club teams. For brackets, a list of teams and following the action, you can use TrackWrestling.

Season Tickets
If you don't have your season tickets yet, get them soon. FALL Board member Craig Scharer sends this message:
If fans want to call for tickets, avoid the lines outside Gill, do so by next Friday, 11-16!  1-800-Go-Beavs,
$49 + $10 processing/mailing fee
Tickets must be ordered in advance so they can be mailed to you in time to get them before the first home meet. You can also buy them at the ticket office in Gill if you are on campus.

FALL Fan Club Membership
Don't forget to sign up for another season in "The FALL" Fan Club, the Official Fan Club of Oregon State Wrestling. Membership gives you admission to Socials after meets, a badge and a limited edition lapel pin. Your membership supports the team in various ways, one is helping sponsor the Awards Banquet at the end of the season.

You have two ways of joining:
  • online with a credit card at the Portal
  • filling out and mailing in the form with your check - see link to file on the right side of this page
Coaches Update
Last but not least, the update from the coaches office this week - if you haven't seen it, find it down below my signature. It covers the Mike Clock, Amar Dhesi's upcoming challenge at the University World's, and the Orange Crush making A Difference Tournament.

FALL Membership, Open Practice & More!

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,
Drake McKee at Practice

Wrestling Season has arrived! Several items have popped up into the news that may interest you, plus we finally have the 2018-19 FALL Club membership form finished.

Open Practice
First up - Final Open Practice this Saturday - and - it will be followed by a free clinic for youth! Your last chance to check out the new team going through a workout in the Dale Thomas Wrestling Room will take place Saturday, Nov. 3 at 3:30.

Free Youth Clinic
When the Beavs finish up their practice, Orange Crush Coach Jason Lara will hold a free clinic on the mats for any youth who are interested. Bring your younger wrestlers along to watch the Beavs go through their paces, then let the little guys take a shot at the action. The clinic will begin around 5:00 pm. The Oregon State football game starts at 7:00 pm.

"The FALL" Fan Club Membership
You've been waiting for this, I know because many have asked me if it has been sent out already. Finally we have the club membership form ready for you. Please get signed up as soon as you can, as we have had a late start this year. The membership form can be found here.

The best and quickest way to sign up is by using the Portal online: https://squareup.com/store/the-fall-fanclub/
Until we get it updated - hopefully very soon - you'll have to fill out last year's form. A couple of notes on the Portal: we no longer sell merchandise through the Portal. At the moment it is still there, but the Board decided to remove those items due to shipping logistics. You can still buys those items at Socials.

It has taken some time to get the letter out because we have been working to keep your costs down. In order to use The Club in Reser, we must deal with certain caterers, and their prices have gone through the roof! This year we will be experimenting with a simplified menu for most Socials and possibly having a couple of Socials with door prizes and a program only. Feel free to let your Board members know what you think about the changes.

Pac-12 Wrestling Start
Pac-12 team Cal State Bakersfield has begun their dual meet season with a pair of duals yesterday. If you'd like to see the results, check out the article on their webpage. Thanks to Craig Scharer for sending me that link!

Sweet Home Wrestling Coach Makes Newspaper
Steve Thorpe, a former Oregon State wrestler, made the local newspaper today for his trip to the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest recently. This is the same tournament that Amar Dhesi wrestled in.
The article is divided between a couple of pages in the paper. Links to both pages are below:
first page of article front page, bottom
second page of article includes a photo of Steve with another former Beaver, Les Gutches. Thanks to my husband, Jack DeAngelis, for sharing this link!

Don't forget - get your FALL Club membership in, and check out the Practice and Clinic tomorrow!
