Intrasquad Photos -- 1

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,
Michael Denison - in action

Our new treasurer for "The FALL" Fan club is Michael Denison, who also happens to be the guy you always see sitting in the corner of the mat taking photographs during the meets. He also makes it to a lot of the big tournaments, too.

So if you see Michael hanging out by the mat, stop by and say "hello" and "thank you" for his stepping up to take on the Treasurer job! It's an important position that keeps the Club going!

Michael is a busy guy, but he has shared some photos from the Intrasquad. The photos are posted here and in the next several posts.

Photo 1 - Ronnie Bresser
For the Intrasquad there was no 125 match,  but the starting spot will go to Ronnie Bresser. Ronnie (center) can be seen in Photo 1, enjoying the meet with his dad.

Matches started at 149 to have a wrestle-off between 4 guys - Izaak Tobin, Alex Rich, Connor Noonan and Kurt Mode.

The 184 match was a battle between two wrestlers who both held the 184 position at one time during last season, Bob Coleman and Seth McLeod.

Maybe that was why this one the closest of all the matches. Seth won by two points, one for riding time and one for an escape. Score 2-0.

New Beaver Team Wins Big With Bonus Point

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

For many of the guys who stepped onto the mat tonight wearing the black singlet, it was their first time there in a real match, aside from the Intrasquad. The faces may not have been familiar to all, but they soon became endeared to the hearts of the fans in attendance. Not satisfied with a simple decision, they worked for bonus points. Six of the Beavers' 9 wins were by bonus points, downing the Mountaineers 42-6.

The meet was bookended with a pair of forfeits - one at 125 by Oregon State and one at Hwt by the Mountaineers. That started the Beavers in a big hole, 0-6.

At 133, Devon Turner got the Beavers turned back in the right direction with his 5-2 victory. Jack Hathaway added a quick six more points with his first period fall at 141, pulling the score ahead 9-6.

Next up 149 - newcomer Kurt Mode dazzled the fans with his second period tech fall, score Beavers 14, Mountaineers 6. True freshman Hunter Willits added a 14-3 major decision at 157. Transfer Billy Bigelow tacked on another decision at 165.

Yet another true freshman stepped up at 174, Myles Terry. Not to be outdone by his classmates, Myles won by major, 11-0. Seth McLeod added another quick tech fall at 184.

At 197 - Corey Griego finished off the action with an exclamation point, getting his fall in 56 seconds! Cody Crawford had only to walk on to the mat to claim his forfeit win at heavyweight.

Score OSU 42, EOU 6

For more information, read osubeavers.com's article on the meet.

Following the meet, a crowd of happy Beaver fans mingled with the coaches and wrestlers while munching on cookies at the Social in Reser's Loge. Head Coach Jim Zalesky told the fans that this young team is just getting started, still figuring things out and will be getting better as the season goes on. Looking good so far, Coach!

A group of Oregon State wrestlers will head to Forest Grove early Sunday morning to participate in the Mike Clock Open at Pacific University for their next event.
