Oregon State Wrestling Fans,
While the summer is cooking along, I have a few personal notes to share.
Starting
off with the serious news, both Greg Strobel and Larry Bielenberg, two
of Oregon State's former National Champions, underwent major surgery
this week. Greg Strobel had surgery for gall bladder cancer. His surgeon felt
confident that he had removed all of the cancer.
Larry
Bielenberg suffered from a bad back. Larry needed some vertebrae
repaired along with a few other old injuries. If all went according to
plan, he went home a couple of days ago, but will have some recuperation
time to go through.
Greg's wife Donna was due to have a knee replacement, but it was postponed due to unknown circumstances.
Please keep Greg, Donna and Larry in your thoughts and prayers.
And
to close on a lighter note, Garrett Drucker's dad, Joe, sent a few
pictures of what Garrett has been up to in his spare time this hot
summer. It seems that he has found a way to stay cool by racing a
sailboat for friends of his.
In the photos, Garrett is at the wheel
wearing a yellow cap on the burgundy hulled boat named Hobo Flats. Just
one of the perks of living in southern California! Way to go, Garrett!
Nice work if you can get it!

It's hard to keep a former wrestler from competing, on the mat or on the water. Thanks for sharing these photos, Joe!
Go Garrett! |

Stay cool everyone!
