Wrestling Updates - End of September

Oregon State Wrestling fans,

Time to pass along some updates from the coaches. They've been so good at sending out notices, they've already sent out two since the last one I shared with you. You will find both of these pasted below my signature.

An important bit of news included is the Benefit dinner for the Orange Crush wrestling club. The OC provides very important support fro Oregon State Wrestling. The dinner is slated for Oct 13 at the Fairgrounds. Be sure that you are signed up and ready to participate! See the updates below for directions.

Note the Wrestling sign in the window
While I am sharing wrestling news, I'll take this opportunity to pass along a few more photos from Ron Iwasaki. Ron discovered another Brewery with Oregon State wrestling connections. Ron found the "Ordnance Brewery" in Boardman, Oregon, owned and operated by Craig Coleman, father of Beaver Bob Coleman. So if you are in Boardman, stop by and say hello! Thanks, Ron!

The Oregon State Wrestling coaching staff would like to formally invite you to the very first Oregon State Kickoff Dinner & Orange Crush Benefit Auction. This benefit dinner and auction is to help raise money for the Orange Crush RTC which goes hand in hand with the Oregon State Wrestling program. Our RTC helps send our athletes to post season tournaments such as the U.S. Open, U23 Nationals, and FILA Juniors. It also allows us to bring in top tier training partners that will mentor and work with our athletes throughout the season.

Head Coach Jim Zalesky will be speaking about the team and the upcoming 2018-2019 season. Followed by Head RTC Coach Jason Lara talking about the RTC program and the plans moving into the future.

Greetings Beaver Nation,
The team is back in the full swing of things, working hard in the classroom and at our workouts! Currently, we are lifting two times a week and conditioning two times a week. Along with these mandatory workouts, we also have open mats, an optional workout that the guys can put themselves through, twice a week. These have all been going great. We will be having some Saturday open practices coming up in October. These will be open to the public.

Amarveer Dhesi is back in town and working hard. Coach Zalesky and Coach Meeks have put together a great training plan that will have Dhesi ready to roll at the end of October! Dhesi will compete on the first two days of the World Championship. For more information on the World Championship schedule, please check out the link below.

2018-2019 Tentative Schedule
The tentative schedule for the upcoming season is attached. We are getting closer to having the official schedule and times finalized. We plan to have poster schedules available at our Oregon State Kickoff Dinner on October 13.

Pledge for Pins
We are hosting our Pledge for Pins drive again this season. Pledge for Pins is designed to help grow the Oregon State Wrestling program. The money raised goes directly to the Orange Crush Wrestling Club, which is a nonprofit organization that supports the Oregon State Wrestling team. If you would like to get involved, please print off and fill out one of the attached forms. If you have any questions, please contact a member of the Oregon State Wrestling staff.

Oregon State Kickoff and Orange Crush Benefit Dinner & Auction
We are just about three weeks out from our very first Oregon State Kickoff and Orange Crush Benefit Dinner & Auction! We sent out an invite last week, which is also attached to this email. We are really looking forward to kicking off the season with a night of fun! Jim Zalesky will be giving his preseason speech about the team and the 2018-2019 schedule.

We already have some great auction items, but we could always use more. If anyone has any auction items they would like to donate to the event, we would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions or would like to donate an item, please contact Jason Lara at 541-224-2829.
