Garrett's got 2 more days of sailing. Half the fleet is in, Mary's there now having fun "shopping" with a hotel full of families waiting for their respective boats.  If Garrett  shows up during the day they'll get some cool photos passing the finish line - the light house at Diamond Head, 1st the Molokai Channel can be a fun challenge for sailors also, but breathtaking views seeing land for the 1st time in 13 days .. Kinda like a scene from Jurassic Park!  Yikes, wrong island..

.....  Garrett's been doing the several local weekly summer racing series for a few years so as this event came closer he knew a few boats going and one asked him if he would participate and he couldn't refuse. Have not heard the whole story yet but there was some bad weather/waves and one of the crew was knocked off the boat when a line snapped, nobody was hurt and they wear life lines and practice overboard drills so it was not a problem. Just scary for us not knowing.

I think they finished an hour or so ago so it was light outside and they will have some cool photos, usually a helicopter goes our to get shots and they all should be wearing their crew shirts to look pretty.

We'll update later..

Whooopppeee, they made it.  Starting to hear about some rough weather & waves but they made it with the distinction of 2nd in class and last in fleet. Torn sails, man overboard any all happy and safe now.. Boat passing the finish line Diamond Head and the guys almost on land for the first time in 14days, makes you kinda woozy being back on land.. Now its shower & sleep for 20 hrs wake up and the final awards dinner Friday and FLY home.. Gar on the far right below.. A helicopter flies out to the finish to get some pretty photos so those should be here soon.

Not sure how they got this video up so soon after the race. The 1st part is Mary & I on our friends' boat (Good News) with the farewell banner at the start of the race. The guys had a great time. I think one
prerequisite for the crew was to play a musical instrument..
