Cowboys Lasso the Beavers

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

The tables were turned from Friday's meet today as the Beavers matched up with Wyoming's Cowboys in Laramie.

The Beavers won only 3 of the matches - a decision by Corey Griego at 197, a fall at heavyweight in 3:47 by Cody Crawford and a tech fall by Joey Palmer at 133. Congratulations to winners Griego, Crawford and Palmer!

Meanwhile, back in Forest Grove, Oregon, a small contingent of Beavers are wrestling unattached at the Boxer Open at Pacific University. Joe DeMatteo, Seth McLeod, Dave Henry and Josh Parazoo are wrestling in this open tournament.

In case that one name caught your attention, Seth McLeod is a Beaver. I just learned yesterday through the grapevine that he has transferred from Boise State to Oregon State. Mr. McLeod hails from Post Falls, Idaho and is wrestling at 184.


Seth and Dave have made it to the semi's, and Joe and Josh continue in the consolation rounds. The results so far from the Boxer are as follows (from TrackWrestling):

Next week, the Beavers make a trip to the East Coast, visiting Rutgers in New Jersey on Friday, Jan. 20 and Drexel in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, Jan. 21. Meets begin at 7 pm Eastern - 4 pm Pacific. Not sure yet if there might be video.

For the other members of the squad, another open tournament, the Clackamas Open will be hosted by Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, OR, next Sunday, Jan. 22.
