Beavers Make History - 1000 Wins!

Fans get their signs ready for final whistle
It was a festive night for Oregon State Wrestling fans, cheering on a young Beaver team that took on the competition head-on! A crowd of 1,413 was entertained not only by the Pep Band and the Oregon State Cheer team but by lots of wrestling action on the mat with Oregon State taking victory #1000 by a score of 43-6 over Southern Oregon!

The first three matches didn't even make it out of the second period. Wrestling started with the 125 match.
125 - Ronnie Bresser III  quickly finished his match early in the second period with a tech fall, 19-3
133 - Jack Hathaway won by fall in the first period.
141- Devin Reynolds took even less time to get his fall
149 - Abraham Rodriguez went the distance, with riding time giving him the point that turned his win into a tech fall, 20-5
157 - Joey Delgado fought a hard battle, winning 7-5 including a point for riding time
165 - Seth Thomas steadily built his lead through the match, also had riding time, winning 9-5
174 - Joe Latham started with a scoreless first period, built a 4-2 lead in the second period, added another point by escape in the third, but got caught and pinned in the third period, oh so close!
184 - Taylor Meeks started slowly and picked up speed and points as the match rolled on, grinding down his opponent to where he finished with a tech fall on stalling points in the third period, 17-1
197 - Cody Crawford had a lead of at least 3-0 (might have been more?), but Taylor Johnson was unable to continue, appeared to be ill. Cody won by injury default.
285 - Nathan Keeve wore down his opponent, winning a major decison 10-1

Congratulations to the whole team for a great performance!! Congratulations to Head Coach Jim Zalesky and his staff for taking the team across this milestone - and to Jim Zalesky for his 100th win here at Oregon State as well!!
Cake for the celebration: Dual meet Wins

Thank you to all those wrestlers who came before, making this possible. Thank you to all the fans who came and made Gill the exciting place that it was this evening.

One last recognition that needs to be made - thanks to all of those loyal fans who have been faithfully coming to wrestling meets over the years. There are some of you out there that I know who have been coming for 50 or more years - half of the 100 years of history that has been in the making, and they've been witness to it!! That's pretty amazing!

On to the Roadrunner Open, Nov 16. Go Beavs!
