The Oregon State wrestling team finished up their regular dual meet season at Colorado Springs, CO, with a convincing win over Air Force, 36-3. Congratulations, Beavs!
Although the win sounds lopsided, it had lots of thrills. To recap:
125 - Ronnie Bresser III got a quick fall in the first period over the Falcons' back-up 125 pounder.
133 - Jack Hathaway scored a 6-1 decision, scoring his last 4 points in the 3rd period.
141 - Devin Reynolds came back from a 2-5 deficit at the end of 2 to 8-8 tie at the end of 3. After some momentary confusion where it appeared Devin had won, they went into Over Time. Devin got the take down for a 10-8 Sudden Victory!
149 - Abraham Rodriguez lost a heart breaker in tie-breaker over time, 1-2.
157 - Alex Elder took the lead right away and never looked back, winning a 6-1 decision.
165 - Seth Thomas pulled an upset of Air Force's #18 Jesse Stafford! After being taken down and ridden for much of the first period, Seth managed to get a reversal. After a restart in the center, as the first period clock ran down, Seth turned Stafford and got the pin with seconds to spare!
174 - Joe Latham ground down his opponent in an 8-2 decision.
184 - #7 Taylor Meeks picked up another quick fall in the first period for the Beavs!
197 - Cody Crawford defeated his senior opponent in convincing fashion 5-0.
Hwt - Nate Keeve pulled out a seemingly improbably victory over his 6'8" opponent, 4-2!
Air
Force had a good video feed, so most of you were probably watching. My
thanks to the two guys doing the announcing, they did a good job of
describing the action or telling stories.
If you missed it, or just want to watch again, you can find the video at the Air Force site. At least it is still there for now. Once it is replaced by the next video, you should be able to click the "archived" button and scroll down to find it below.
