Wall-sit contest |
First, a look back: Last Saturday was the first Official Open Practice, followed by the Parent/Fan Tailgater. The fans saw some good scrambles and enjoyed some good tailgate food outside in the sun later.
Devan Turner encourages winner Kegan Calkins |
Congratulations to Kegan Calkins for winning the wall-sit contest at the end of Open Practice. Brandon Kaylor was second to Kegan only by a few seconds. Both must have held on for a good 15+ minutes. Way to go, guys!
Tonight: The Orange & Black Intrasquad takes place in Gill Coliseum at 7pm.
Coach Zalesky has paired off 17 matches for the event. Come and check
out how the guys stack up against each other. For a list of the
individual pairings, take a look at the article at osubeavers.com .

Live-streaming: For anyone who can't come tonight, but would like to see what's happening, OSU Wrestling's FaceBook page will have live-streaming of the Intrasquad.
Roster notes: If you would like to familiarize yourself with the guys on the team before heading to Gill, check out the latest updates on the roster. Not only is a little more information up about the new wrestlers, but there are actually two new names on the roster, Peyton Bell and Josh Tabb. Welcome to Oregon State Wrestling, gentleman!

Coaches' Update: The latest email from the coaching staff
came out a few minutes ago - if you haven't seen it, check it out down
below my signature. Included are the results of Amar Dhesi's trip to the
World Freestyle Championships in Budapest.
Alumni News: This news came from Brandon Perkins. Former OSU Heavyweight and NCAA All-American, Clayton Jack
will be in Oregon soon. Apparently Clayton is with the DOA Pro
Wrestling Tour which has a performance in Portland on Nov. 18, called Burning Bridges. Thanks for letting us know, Brandon!

Greetings Beaver Nation,
Today
we start the season off with our annual Orange and Black Dual Meet.
This will be in Gill Coliseum at 7 p.m. We have 17 matches scheduled for
tonight. As a staff, it will give us a good idea of what small
adjustments need to be made before our first competition on Nov. 11.
We
hope to see many of you in the stands, but for those who cannot attend,
well be live streaming the meet on the Oregon State Wrestling Facebook
page. Click the link below to see the matchups for tonights intrasquad
dual. There is also a link to the live stream.
Amar Dhesi World Championship Recap
Dhesi
had a tough road as he represented Canada at the World Championship
this week. During the opening round, he dropped his match to Zhiwei
Deng, of China, by a score of 4-1. Deng went on to take a silver medal.
Dhesi
then fell short against Nick Gwiazdowski, of the United States, by a
score of 7-0. Gwiazdowski went on to take a bronze medal.
Dhesi
is a young competitor at the 125 kg weight class and will learn from
his matches and come back stronger! He will get a few weeks of training
in before leaving to wrestle at the U23 World Championships in Romania.
Go Beavs!
