We
are in the week between the Pac-12's and the NCAA's. While the team is
practicing for the final tournament of the season, there are a few items
to bring to your attention.
First of all, the coaches sent out their latest update yesterday. In case you did not see it yet, it contained some very sad news. Alex Reser
a former Oregon State wrestler has died. On behalf of the entire FALL
Board, our deepest sympathies to Marty and Jane Reser and their family
on the death of their son, Alex. May he rest in Peace. Check the update
below for the Memorial Service times, one on Wednesday, the 13th and one
this Saturday, March 16. You can read about Alex in his obituary.
A link on that page will take you to a page with a Memorial Scholarship
Fund in Alex's name. The family requests gifts to the fund in place of
sending flowers.
March 16 is also the date of the Memorial Service in Prineville for Isaac Wood. See the coaches' update below for a reminder of the details.
Next, looking ahead to the final event in the wrestling season, the Awards Banquet, sponsored by The FALL Fan Club. The Banquet takes place Saturday, April 13.
Time to get your reservations made and join us in honoring this
hardworking team. Simply download the invitation and reservation form, fill it out and
return it along with your payment. Deadline is March 29.
One last item just for fun, this one a real blast from the way-back past.
Former FALL Board member Gary Westford was visiting a gallery over on
the Oregon Coast and came upon a poster. Gary snapped a picture of it to
share. It is a poster from the days of Robin Reed wrestling for Oregon State. I have attached a copy of Gary's snapshot to share with you. Enjoy!

Hello Beaver Nation,
The
first part of postseason is in the books, and it was exciting! The
PAC-12 Wrestling Championships was a three-horse race between the Beavs,
ASU and Stanford. Stanford came out as team champions with 81.5 points,
followed by ASU with 79.5 points. We took third place with 77.5 points.
We are very proud of how everyone competed up and down the lineup, with
many avenging losses from earlier in the season.
Six beavers are heading to the NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh
Ronnie Bresser
won his third PAC-12 title over Ryan Milfoh, of ASU, by a score of 5-4.
Ronnie is looking to bring back an NCAA title at the 125 pound weight
class, with his only loss of the season coming to #1 Sebastian Rivera,
of Northwestern.
Devan Turner
qualified for the NCAA tournament at 133 pounds. He automatically took
true second after Stanfords 133 pounder could not continue due to
injury. Devan looked sharp in his third place match, where he came away
with a 14-6 major decision over Josiah Kline, of ASU.
Grant Willits, a freshman, took home the 141 pound title with a pin over Brandon Kier, of Stanford.
At 157 pounds, Hunter Willits
qualified for NCAAs after taking second place. Hunter came into the
tournament as the third seed and made the finals after knocking off the
second-seeded Paul Fox, of Stanford, 6-1.
Oregons own Bob Coleman
won the title at 184 pounds! It was a back-and-forth match between
Coleman and Judah Duhm, of Stanford, with Coleman coming out on top 4-2.
Amar Dhesi
went out and took care of business and walked away with the heavyweight
title. Dhesi won in the finals over Haydn Maley, of Stanford, by a
score of 17-3. Dhesi is looking like a man on a mission right now
heading into the NCAA tournament!
Josh
Reyes (149), Aaron Olmos (165), Colt Doyle (174) and Jamarcus Grant
(197) all contributed to the tight team race and now will look to get
the six guys heading to NCAAs ready to go.
We
are saddened to hear about the passing of Alex Reser. Our deepest
condolences go out to the Reser family. A memorial service will be held
on Wednesday, March 13 at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Skyline Memorial
Gardens, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland. Also, a celebration of Alex's
life is planned for Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at Walters Cultural
Arts Center, 527 E Main St, Hillsboro.
A
March of Champions is being held to celebrate the life of former Oregon
State wrestler Isaac Wood. The March of Champions is being held at
Crook County High School Auditorium this Saturday at 1 p.m. After the
service, there will be a reception at the Prineville Golf and Country
