It
was a nail biter, but in the end, Stanford took home the big, blue
trophy with 81.5 points, ASU was second with 79.5 and Oregon State
finished third with 77.5 points. The top three teams were only separated
by 4.0 points. One of the closest tournaments that I can remember.
The Beavers had five finalists tonight and they leave Wells Fargo Arena with four Champions! Congratulations to the four Champs - Ronnie Bresser - 125, Grant Willits (by fall!) - 141, Bob Coleman - 184 and Amar Dhesi - 285!!
Looking ahead to the NCAA's - the four champions will be joined by Hunter Willits - 157 and Devan Turner - 133. Hunter's second place finish was good for the second allotment at 157. Devan
picked up the "true second" when the second place finisher, Stanford's
Pengilly was unable to wrestle-off due to injury. Congratulations to the
six Beavers heading to Pittsburg! Best of luck to all!
Besides the four Champs, the Beavers had:
one second - Hunter Willits,
two thirds - Devan Turner (a true second) and Colt Doyle,
two fourths - Josh Reyes and Aaron Olmos, and
one fifth - Jamarcus Grant.
It is definitely worth a look back at the Oregon State Twitter feed. All of the Beavs' falls are captured in short video clips which are fun to watch.
What was not fun to watch, at least locally, was the finals which
were supposed to be televised live on Pac-12 television. Not here in
Corvallis! Nothing but Women's Basketball! While searching for a channel
that was carrying the Wrestling Finals, I did find a schedule that says
the finals will be televised on one of the HD Pac-12 channels Sunday morning from 11 am-1:00 pm. Around here that is HD 720 or 1329 or 1330. At least that's the way I read it. Check your local provider for details.

The Beavers now have almost two weeks to prepare for the NCAA's in Pittsburg, PA, March 21-23.
Don't forget to set your clocks an hour ahead tonight. Have a safe trip home if you are in Tempe.
Once
again, Congratulations to the team, Head Coach Jim Zalesky, the other
coaches and staff on their success at the Pac-12 tournament!
Go Beavs!
