Session 3 Update - One All American for Certain!

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

A quick update from the morning session at the NCAA's for anyone not having a chance to follow the action.

Amar Dhesi won his quarterfinal match with Nick Nevills of Penn State, 4-2, moving on to the semi-finals tonight! That puts him into the automatic category for All Americans. Even if he should lose from here on out, he can place no lower than 6th. This will be his second All-American title! Congratulations to Amar!!

Amar's work is not over yet. He faces #2 seed Adam Coon of Michigan tonight in the semi's.

Ronnie Bresser battled hard in a very close match with the #1 seed, Darian Cruz of Lehigh, but lost by a 0-2 decision. Cruz's two points were an escape and 1:02 of riding time.

Ronnie will have a match, hopefully two, tonight in the consolation  bracket for a chance to continue on. He needs one more win to get into the match for placement as an All-American.

His next match is critical. If he wins, he goes on to another match tonight that determines which match he gets Saturday morning. If he loses that first match tonight, then his tournament is finished.

Ronnie's first consolation round match tonight is with #14 seed Luke Welch of Purdue.

Oregon State has moved up to 22nd place with 13 points. Ohio State continues to lead.

The semi's will be televised by ESPN tonight, at least in some locations. However if you want to see all of the matches, you'll have to watch on-line with ESPN3. (Evan will put up the links to the specific mats on the OSU Twitter feed.)

I will also be posting more of Michael Denison's photos from the tournament on "The FALL"s blog page when I get a chance.

Go Ronnie! Go Amar! Go Beavs!
