Beavers Blast Boise - 36-9!

The Oregon State Beavers put on a great show for the home crowd and the Pac-12 television cameras today, winning 8 of the 10 matches with the Boise State Broncos by a final score of 36-9!

Five of those eight matches came with bonus points to boot. Joey Palmer - 133 - major, Seth Thomas -165 - fall!, Corey Griego - 184 - fall!, Cody Crawford -197 - tech fall with riding time and Amar Dhesi - 285 - fall!

Action started with the heavy weight match where Amar Dhesi started things off with a "Boom" - first period fall! That rolled the matches back to the 125's where Ronnie Bresser squeaked out a 5-4 decision after momentarily falling behind.

Next was Joey Palmer's 15-5 major after an action-packed match. At 141, Jack Hathaway gradually pulled away with a 6-2 decision.

Joey Delgado faced Boise's best wrestler, #15 Geordan Martinez and got the first takedown. At the end of the second period it was tied 3-3, but Martinez had riding time. BSU picked up the win in the end, 7-3. Starting up after the television half time, Abraham Rodriquez had a tight match with Chris Castillo. It was tied after the first period, but Abraham got it under control with some takedowns and won the decision 5-3.

Time for senior Seth Thomas to take the mat at 165 for his final time in Gill Coliseum. Seth made the most of it, getting a fall in the second period! The fans gave him a standing ovation. Seth had not only the regular home crowd rooting for him, but a large contingent of orange t-shirt clad "Team Thomas" fans who really enjoyed that pin! Thank you, Seth!!

At 174, Tyler Chay was in a close match, 0-0 after one, but then got caught and pinned, giving Boise their last 6 points. 184, Corey Griego was grinding out his match with lots of riding time, then got the fall in the third period!

Cody Crawford's match at 197 was the last of the afternoon, beginning slowly with a 2-1 first period, then racking up back points in the second period after beginning the round with a reversal. Cody went on to win by tech fall, counting the one point for riding time by 18-3.

Social in the Club at Reser
Following the dual, "The FALL" Fan Club sponsored a Social in Reser's Club. Thanks to all who attended, it was the largest crowd we've had at a Social all year. Some happy fans went home with door prizes claimed by a call of "Go Beavs!". Coach Zalesky gave his comments on the dual and thoughts looking to Saturday and the Pac-12's at ASU. Reynold Gardner interviewed Seth Thomas and Abraham Rodriquez. A good time was had by all. We hope you all come back next year!

The FALL is still working on locating a place to have a get together after the Pac-12's on Saturday evening for all the Beaver fans, such as we have done in the past. Apparently there is a big fight the same night, so available space is rare. If anyone has any ideas, please let us know.

More information about the Pac-12's will be coming soon.

Congratulations to the Beavers for holding on to the Border Axe. Now it's on to the Pac-12's!

Go Beavs!!
