Beavers Lose Close One to ISU

Oregon State Wrestling Fans,

The Oregon State Beavers won the first three matches, beginning with 197, but then were only able to pick up one more match, losing to Iowa State 24-16.

Congratulations to the match winners, Corey Griego 197, Amar Dhesi 285 by major, Ronnie Bresser 125 by forfeit and Billy Bigelow 165 by decision!

There were moments when things could have gone the other way. At 157, Hunter Willits was ahead the entire match until a stalling point put the match in OT. At 174, Myles Terry was only behind by two but his opponent must be a very good rider, as he chose top for the third period and ended up with a pin. At 184 Seth McLeod was leading throughout his match until the end of the third period when Pestano picked up a quick 3 points and took the win.

The Beavers now return to Corvallis to start Winter term classes and get back to their home mat. Be sure you have next "Sunday, January 14, 7 pm - Gill" marked on your calendars. The Beavers host the Wyoming Cowboys in a dual meet. Be there to help cheer the Beavers on to victory. Wyoming is a pretty tough opponent, the Beavers will need your voices of encouragement in the stands!

Hope to see you in Gill next Sunday!

Go Beavs!
