Oregon State Wrestling supporters,
The
Beaver wrestling team returns to Gill on Friday, January 31! Jess
Lewis along with other Fall board members will be in the lobby at 6pm to
register club members and hand out badges. At the Northern Colorado
meet on Jan 10, Jess was accompanied by Baseball Head Coach Canham and
Canham's dad! The baseball team was at wrestling practice that week and
the reigning National Champions were also in the stands cheering on the
wrestling team!! It is rumored that Jess may bring Coach Jonathan
Smith this week.
Although the meet does not start
until 7pm, please be in your seats by 6:45pm for a special short
program honoring class of 1959 Beaver wrestler Ken Noteboom who passed
away last summer. A donation of $20K started the Ken Noteboom Wrestling
Endowment Fund which will support wrestling scholarships at OSU. In
order to endow the fund, an additional $30K is needed. Donations can be
made at the following link to the OSU Foundation:
Following
the meet, we will have a social in the Club Level of Reser and give
further tribute to Ken Noteboom. I challenge all of us "old" people to
talk to the wrestlers on the team and try to get a pulse at this party!
Thank you so much to all of you who have already joined The Fall. We are up to 80 households but I note that we only have 6 wrestling alumni from 1990 to current day (shout out to Dan Alar, Jon Woods, Reynold Gardner, Jason Buce, Ty Waterson and Brandon Perkins). Please help me reach the others as we depend on memberships to fund our socials and the team awards banquet. You can sign up with a credit card or pay with cash/check on Friday.

Longtime
board member Michael Denison is a recovering from a massive stroke
sustained in early December while he was traveling for work in
California. His wife Kerry reports that he is continuing to make
strides each day. He is relearning to speak and use his right arm.
Years ago Mike set up the Pure Orange message board where Oregon State
fanatics discussed Beaver Athletics all day, every day! When he was not
behind the scenes organizing booster boards for Wrestling or Baseball,
Mike could be found with his press pass taking photos in the middle of
the action.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help with medical expenses.
Additionally,
there are plans to work on a yard project for Mike this spring. We
will be recruiting volunteers to help out so stay tuned!
Cards for Michael Denison can be sent to:
