Coaches' Newsletter - January 7, 2019

Good Afternoon and Happy New Year from Oregon State Wrestling!
We hope this email finds you well! Oregon State Wrestling is home again for their home opener against Northern Colorado this Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. PT! The Beavers are coming off a long road trip which saw them compete at the Southern Scuffle and a dual at No. 22 Michigan.
LAST WEEK RECAP
The Beavers opened the New Year competing at the Southern Scuffle on Jan. 1-2. The Oregon State wrestling team notched three podium finishes to highlight action at the 2020 Southern Scuffle on Thursday in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The No.7-seed Devan Turner along with Hunter Willits (Unattached) both finished in sixth place in their respective weight class.
Following Turner and Willits, Colt Doyle (eighth, 184) also placed as Oregon State finished tied for 18th as a team with Virginia Military Institute. The Beavers amassed 33 team points over two days.
After having a couple training days in Ann Arbor, the Beavers came out to a fast start against then-ranked No. 22 Michigan earning a 21-15 victory over the Wolverines. Oregon State emerged victorious in six of its ten matches on the day as they racked up five decisions as a team. The Beavers ended the dual with a total of ten takedowns and eighteen escapes in the annual edition of the Joe Wells Classic.

UPCOMING WEEK
Oregon State will hold its home opener this Friday night inside of Gill Coliseum when they host Northern Colorado of the Big 12 at 7 p.m. PT. The dual is not on television, but a live stream will be available with a link located on our website and social media accounts later in the week.

THE 100 CLUB
One of our new initiatives this year which serves as a replacement to our Pledge for Pins drive in the past is The 100 Club: It is designed to help the growth of the Beaver Regional Training Center (RTC). The money gifted goes directly to the Beaver RTC which is a Nonprofit Organization that supports the travel and training expenses associated with the RTC.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 this season. For example, that is 1,000 individuals donating $100 each. If you would like to join the 100 Club please print out this FORM and mail it to our PO Box. The address to which is on the form.
JOIN THE FALL BOOSTER CLUB OF OSU WRESTLING
The Oregon State University Wrestling team has kicked off another season and we invite you to join "The Fall" - the booster club of the OSU Wrestling program. We host socials after home meets and put on the end of the season awards banquet.  Please find the link below for online registration.
