Beavers Corner the Bears!

Benny enjoys the match with Larry Bielenberg & buddy

The Oregon State Beavers wrestling team gave a highly entertaining performance for the home crowd this afternoon, winning 35-6! The Beavers won 8 out of 10 weight classes.

Ronnie Bresser started things off at 125 with a third period Tech Fall, always a crowd pleaser! Joey Palmer followed that up with a fall in the second period. Who doesn't love that?! Jack Hathaway and Joey Delgado added more points to the score.

UNC finally got a win when Abe Rodriguez lost another close one at 157, 2-3. Seth Thomas was up next, digging himself out of a huge hole and nearly turning it into a major or a fall, getting the fans on their feet!

Tyler Chay added a major, Corey Griego came up with a Tech Fall in the third period. Cody Crawford faced a rematch with an opponent he lost to in Las Vegas's Cliff Keen, but was unable to turn the tables.

Oregon State fans had one last reason for a big celebration when Amar Dhesi pinned his opponent in the first period.

Congratulations to all the match winners, Bresser, Palmer, Hathaway, Delgado, Thomas, Chay, Griego and Dhesi!! And Congratulations to the entire team for their efforts today!

According to the Oregon State story, the crowd was 848. Come on folks, we have to get more people next time. We need to get the numbers back up into the thousands!

To get a couple of other looks at the dual today, read the article at UNC and the one at Oregon Live by Scott Nelson.

Fans gather in The Loge for Social

After the meet, fans gathered in The Loge in Reser Stadium for a Social where a selection of meatballs and cookies were served. Reynold Gardner, FALL Board member, interviewed Joey Palmer and a couple of his regular workout partners, Ronnie Stevens and Ronnie Bresser.

Fall Club member Len Kauffman gave a short talk inviting all to the Oregon Chapter of the Hall of Fame banquet - April 30, 2016. Len mentioned that several people will be honored, but the most outstanding were Oregon State former wrestler Denys Overholser who developed the Stealth technology for the F-117A (stealth bomber) and Dr Mike Reuter, former coach at the U of O, who will receive the Medal of Courage. For reservations or questions, contact Jim Pond: jwpond1970@comcast.net, or order online at or-nwhof.ticketleap.com

The fans also heard from Coach Zalesky on how the team is doing, looking toward the last part of the season. The Social concluded with the drawing for doorprizes and closing of Silent Auction items.
Fans in line for meatballs and cookies!

Don't forget, we have some interesting Silent Auction items still to come. There will be one more of the specially engraved hydroflasks that was auctioned off today - congratulations to Annete Chay, the winner! We will have a complete set of all 5 of the lapel pins designed for "The FALL". The first of the pins, from 2011-2012 is no longer for purchase individually as we only have 13 left, and they are all in sets. Then there is that unique plaque designed and made by FALL member John Kowalewski.
