After Session 1 Oregon State trails host Arizona State by one point and has 4 wrestlers in the finals.
Ronnie Bresser - 125, Joey Palmer - 133, Corey Griego - 184 and Amar Dhesi - 285 have all advanced to the finals. Along the way Bresser picked up one win by fall, Dhesi had both wins by fall! Nice work!
The Beavers need all the bonus points they can get. Two upsets occurred
this morning when #1 seed Abraham Rodriquez and #2 seed Seth Thomas were
both defeated in the semi-finals and now have to fight their way back
through the consolation brackets.
Abe and Seth join fellow teammates Jack Hathaway - 141, Joey Delgado -149, Tyler Chay - 174 and Cody Crawford - 197 in the consolation bracket. There they all need to win their next match to get into the third place match. Otherwise they drop to the 5th-6th place match.
Depending on how things shake out at the end, there may need to be matches for "true second" to determine who goes to the NCAA's. That depends on how many allocations the Pac-12's received at each weight.
Team Scores at the break:
ASU - 86.0 - 5 in the finals
OSU - 85.0 - 4 in the finals
CSUB - 76.0 - 4 in the finals
Stnfd - 75.0 - 4 in the finals
BSU - 69.5 - 3 in the finals
CPoly - 44.0 - none in the finals
Wrestling resumes with consolation rounds at 3:30 PST, which will again be live-streamed from the Pac-12 Championships site. At 5:00 PST, coverage switches to television for the finals on the Pac-12 network.
Brackets have been updated through the semi's.
Go Beavs! Fight hard!
