Pac-12's Coming Up on Saturday!

Only a few more days now and the Beavers will be attempting to win their fifth Pac-12 title in a row! The six teams that comprise the Pac-12 in wrestling will gather in the Wells Fargo Arena on the ASU campus in Tempe on Saturday, February 27, to determine the champions - individual and team titles.

Before going into the details, first a look back at the last century (which wasn't that long ago!) The Pac-12 has compiled a list of the Wrestlers of the Century. The details are in this Pac-12 article. Click on the "wrestling" tab at the top of the page if it is on the general page. Les Gutches was named the Wrestler of the Century and Dale Thomas was named Coach of the Century for the Pac-12. Congratulations to both! You can also read more about it in this OSU article.

As stated, the Pac-12 tournament will be this coming Saturday. Session 1 starts at 11:30 MST - 10:30 PST. Doors open an hour before. Beaver fans, wear your black and orange and sit together, you'll make a better fan block that way! Seating is all general admission, so get there early to get your seats.

Session 2 begins at 4:30 MST, or 3:30 PST. The finals will be aired on Pac-12 television network, beginning at 5:00 PST, 6:00 MST.

For various thoughts on the tournament, you can read several different articles:
Oregon State's article - on latest rankings
Arizona State's latest article - their defeat of CS Bakersfield
Statesman Journal article - on the Border Battle, Beavs vs Broncos & a look ahead to the Pac-12's. Be sure to scroll through the photos at the top of the page, they have quite a few, including crowd shots. Thanks to Craig Scharer, for sending along the link to this article!

For those who are not able to attend - The finals will be televised on the Pac-12 network, but I am not sure how to follow Session 1 or the beginning of Session 2. I thought maybe it was going to be on Track Wrestling, but I have not been able to verify that. Perhaps you can follow by the OSU Wrestling Facebook page or Twitter account. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks!

For those who will be there to cheer on the Beavs, "The FALL" is making progress on the location for the party after wrestling is over. The location will be "Gordon Biersch", within walking distance of Wells Fargo Arena. That's all we know for now, FALL President Cory Rahn is in Tempe, checking it all out today. More information will be coming as we find out.

For those who like videos, Ryan Haworth, OSU's new sports videographer, has been making highlight videos for all the home duals and some of the away meets. If you missed the links to these (I did!) they are in the "Related Links" box at the top right of each OSU article - if there are any for that meet. The last one, the highlights of the OSU-BSU dual, is at this page. Ryan has also been working with a slow-motion camera. He just put up this video also from the last dual, this one is in slow motion. It is a different experience to watch in slow motion!

A quick look ahead to the NCAA's, for those attending: the color scheme for coordinating t-shirt colors for Beaver fans this year: Orange-Black-Orange. There will not be a special t-shirt for this year, costs in NYC are high enough, so just bring your own t-shirts. First day wear your orange, second day your black and the final day go back to orange. As long as the colors match, Beaver fans will look united!

Finally, a look back, the latest in the "Where are they now?" series. Read on below to learn where the Larson brothers, Jeremy and Kyle are now. A big thank you to Reta Larson for sharing this information!

Where are they now?
Jeremy Larson is back in Hermiston and is now a dentist with his own private practice.  He has 4 children and is doing very well.

Jeremy was an Everyday Champion at OSU in 2007.
Kyle Larson is also back in Hermiston and was named the head wrestling coach this past November for Hermiston High School.  He has two children and works for a local trucking company as their parts manager.

Kyle won the 141 title at RTOC in 2006.

Two more successful former Beaver wrestlers. Way to go, guys!

Go Beavs!!
