For those still basking in the glow of the
hard fought victory at the Pac-12 Championships, it seems like a good
time for a recap.
Unknown at the time of my last email, congratulations are due to Beaver heavyweight Amar Dhesi for capturing the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament award.
Dhesi took the title with 2 falls and a major decision that was one
point shy of being a tech fall. His two falls were the most of any
wrestler at the tournament. Congratulations, Amar! The latest article at Oregon State's site gives more information on Dhesi's award.
If you haven't already read the recaps of the tournament, you can find several articles on-line:
Oregon State's article
Host Arizona State's article
OregonLive's article by Scott Nelson (Thanks, Craig Scharer, for sending me this link!)
final brackets - if you haven't already seen them or want to download a completed copy for yourself
The other schools, Stanford, Bakersfield and Cal Poly also have
articles, but I will let you look them up, so I don't get dinged for
putting too many links in here.
I did write a short post with photos at "The FALL"'s blogsite about the welcome back
that our Champions received at OSU yesterday evening. Unfortunately, I
did not have my better camera with me, nor were we on the right side of
the court to get the original photo. Some of the wrestlers or coaches
may not be in the photos. So if anyone was there taking pictures that
would like to share, send them to me and I can post them, too.
Now we wait until March 9 when the "at large" bids to the NCAA's will be
announced. Hopefully, the Beavers will pick up one to three more!

Pac-12 Champs Return Home to Gill
Confetti filtering down on the team |
After a few volley's from the confetti cannon, cupcakes from a table at center court and a few more songs from the band, they all posed for photos with the trophy and Todd Stansbury, OSU Athletic Director.
Team gathers around Todd Stansbury |
The basketball game had been over for a while, most of the crowd had faded away, but a few local wrestling fans came to share in the moment with the basketball fans who stayed.
The team, trophy and confetti |

Welcome Back Beavs - Planned For Today!
A "Welcome Back Champs!" is being planned for the Oregon State wrestling team and coaches on their return to Gill Coliseum today. They are expected to arrive around 5:45 this afternoon.
The Athletic Department is planning to have the Band, Cheer and fans stick around after the 3:30 basketball game concludes. When the Beavers arrive, they will be brought in to the court. The plan is to shoot some confetti cannons and have the band play a few songs to help celebrate the Beavers "Fifth in a Row Pac-12 Championship!
A good chance to take some pictures and offer our congratulations! The Athletic Department wants to extend an invitation to all OSU Wrestling fans to join in the celebration.
If you can come, please meet inside Gill (after the game). The coaches know about the plan, but it is a surprise to the wrestlers, so please don't tell them! Hopefully, their flight will be on time.
Remember, they are expected at 5:45 today, so you might want to get there a little earlier.
Please come if you can!!

Five In a Row! Beavers Win Pac-12's!!
They did it!! I don't know how, because the information isn't out there
yet, but the Beavers won the Pac-12's - the fifth year in a row!
For those of us at home, the live-streaming went out just after Seth Thomas's consolation round match began and didn't come back until it was almost over. The guys must have done a heck of a job fighting back in the Consolations, because OSU won with only one champion, Amarveer Dhesi, who won with bonus points to close out the show! Congratulations, Amar!!
Just before the finals began the announcers had said that OSU was leading by about ten points, but ASU was looking to close the gap. The television coverage did not mention most of the matches outside of the finals, so from here, it was hard to know what was happening.
If you weren't there or weren't watching the finals, this is a short version. Ronnie Bresser lost a Double Tie-Breaker overtime match by one second of riding time. Joey Palmer scored first, was the aggressor for the whole match, but ended up losing by takedown in Sudden Victory overtime. Corey Griego fought hard against a #1 seed senior and lost by a close decision, not bad. The conclusion came with Dhesi's match which left no doubt.
Ryan Haworth has put up a video recap of the finals on YouTube.
When Oregon State gets their article out, it should have the details. You will find the link at the archives page. The brackets have been updated, and are final.
Team scores:
OSU - 118.0
ASU - 113.0
CSUB - 101.0
Stanford - 100.0
BSU - 92.0
CPoly - 73.5
The Beavers had one first - Amar Dhesi
three 2nd place - Ronnie Bresser, Joey Palmer, Corey Griego
four 3rd place - Joey Delgado, Abraham Rodriquez, Seth Thomas, Cody Crawford,
one fifth place - Jack Hathaway
one sixth place - Tyler Chay
Beaver fans that traveled to Tempe are to be commended. They were mentioned by the announcers as being the most noticeable, large group who had traveled to the tournament. It was their orange attire that made them stand out.
If you are there, don't forget to head over to Gordon Biersch for a celebration with the coaches and team from 8:30-10:30. Enjoy!
Next up will be to find out which Beavers get to go to NYC and Madison Square Garden for the NCAA's.
Once again, Congratulations to Amar Dhesi and the whole team and Coaching staff!!

Beavs Have 4 In Finals - Trail by One
After Session 1 Oregon State trails host Arizona State by one point and has 4 wrestlers in the finals.
Ronnie Bresser - 125, Joey Palmer - 133, Corey Griego - 184 and Amar Dhesi - 285 have all advanced to the finals. Along the way Bresser picked up one win by fall, Dhesi had both wins by fall! Nice work!
The Beavers need all the bonus points they can get. Two upsets occurred this morning when #1 seed Abraham Rodriquez and #2 seed Seth Thomas were both defeated in the semi-finals and now have to fight their way back through the consolation brackets.
Abe and Seth join fellow teammates Jack Hathaway - 141, Joey Delgado -149, Tyler Chay - 174 and Cody Crawford - 197 in the consolation bracket. There they all need to win their next match to get into the third place match. Otherwise they drop to the 5th-6th place match.
Depending on how things shake out at the end, there may need to be matches for "true second" to determine who goes to the NCAA's. That depends on how many allocations the Pac-12's received at each weight.
Team Scores at the break:
ASU - 86.0 - 5 in the finals
OSU - 85.0 - 4 in the finals
CSUB - 76.0 - 4 in the finals
Stnfd - 75.0 - 4 in the finals
BSU - 69.5 - 3 in the finals
CPoly - 44.0 - none in the finals
Wrestling resumes with consolation rounds at 3:30 PST, which will again be live-streamed from the Pac-12 Championships site. At 5:00 PST, coverage switches to television for the finals on the Pac-12 network.
Brackets have been updated through the semi's.

Pac-12 Preliminary Brackets Are Out!
I have downloaded the preliminary brackets for you. They can also be found on the ASU Wrestling News page in the "Related Links" box. That's where I picked them up.
OSU has two #1 seeds, Abraham Rodriquez at 157 and Amarveer Dhesi at 285.
OSU has four #2 seeds, Ronnie Bresser at 125, Joey Palmer at 133, Seth Thomas at 165 and Corey Griego at 184.
The Beavers also have three #4 seeds, Jack Hathaway at 141, Joey Delgado at 149 and Cody Crawford at 197.
Tomorrow I imagine the brackets will be updated at the Pac-12 Championship site. They now have the brackets for this year. (They weren't there when I started this email.)
The Pac-12 site now also has the links to the individual mat cameras, just click on the "How to Watch" link under the picture of the 2015 Champion Oregon State Beavers on that page.
For the Beaver fans in Tempe, cheer hard and let the Beavs know you are there supporting them all the way! It is going to be a tough battle!
Don't forget the post tournament Social for Beavers at Gordon Biersch from 8:30 to 10:30 pm MT. Be sure to let all Beaver fans know about the Social, as some may not be aware of it if they are not on "The FALL"'s email list. All are welcome.

Follow-Up to Feb. 25 Email
If you did not receive an email from me earlier today, you might want to check your "spam" folder.
I have heard from people who had the earlier email marked as "Spam". This was probably due to the number of links included. That can cause an email to be flagged as spam. I did include many links with information about the Pac-12's, more than usual.
Also, for Gmail users, if you haven't been receiving emails from me regularly, you might want to check the tab labeled "Promotions" on the top of your email inbox. Gmail has a tendency to put email delivered by Mail Chimp and other group email delivery systems in the "Promotion" tab, instead of the "Primary" tab.
This system (Mail Chimp) is working much better than the basic email I was using before, but I guess there are still a few bugs in the system. Thanks for your patience.

All You Want to Know About the Pac-12's on Saturday!
Barely two days left before the Pac-12 Conference Championship tournament begins!
The time schedule, rankings, NCAA tournament allotments and other articles are now out. You can find links to all of those in Brooks Hatch's article at the OSU website. Be sure to check all of the links in the "Related Links" box in the upper right corner of that article. Some are so important I will include them here:
NCAA Automatic Bids - the list of allotted berths at the NCAA's
Pac-12-Championships - the site for the tournament, check there for brackets, live stats, etc. Don't think the brackets are out yet, though.
Pac-12 Press Release - contains the schedule, etc.
For those who are not able to attend the tournament, it will be possible to watch all the action. These Camera links take you to live-streaming by ASU for each of the mats for all of the wrestling up to the finals. At that point, coverage will be provided by the Pac-12 network.
Camera 1 - for livestreaming before television coverage
Camera 2 - as above, second mat
Camera 3 - as above, third mat
If you can't watch the live-stream, use that Pac-12 Champioships link above to find live stats provided by the Pac-12. A big "Thank you" to Brooks Hatch, Oregon State Sportswriter, for sharing those links, especially the ones to the cameras!
Arizona State, host of the Pac-12's, has also released an article with more details from their vantage.
For Beaver fans who will be attending the Pac-12's, the Social after the tournament has been arranged. Location will be Gordon Biersch, with a dining area and patio reserved, appetizers will be available. If you want an entree or more to eat you will need to order that on your own.
The address is 420 S Mill Ave, Tempe. Fall President Cory Rahn says it looks like a 15 minute walk from Wells Fargo Arena. Our reservation is from 8:30-10:30 pm. Don't miss out!
In the last email, I mentioned video highlights. If you want to view all the Oregon State videos, they are all available on OSU's Beaver Athletics YouTube page. You can find just the wrestling videos or you can see all the Oregon State Sports videos. If you are on the general page, you can always select out the wrestling videos by clicking on the small search icon under the Oregon State banner and entering "wrestling" in to the search box. Thanks to Ryan Haworth for providing those links for my email!
There has been a lot of information in these recent emails. In case you lose track of them, remember the email messages are all posted on the FALL's blogsite: http://osuwrestlingfall.blogspot.com/
One last item, a recent article in Oregon State's Barometer - the student newspaper. The article is about wrestling and weight. It is quite interesting, give it a look.

Pac-12's Coming Up on Saturday!
Only a few more days now and the Beavers will be attempting to win their
fifth Pac-12 title in a row! The six teams that comprise the Pac-12 in
wrestling will gather in the Wells Fargo Arena on the ASU campus in
Tempe on Saturday, February 27, to determine the champions - individual
and team titles.
Before going into the details, first a look back at the last century (which wasn't that long ago!) The Pac-12 has compiled a list of the Wrestlers of the Century. The details are in this Pac-12 article. Click on the "wrestling" tab at the top of the page if it is on the general page. Les Gutches was named the Wrestler of the Century and Dale Thomas was named Coach of the Century for the Pac-12. Congratulations to both! You can also read more about it in this OSU article.
As stated, the Pac-12 tournament will be this coming Saturday. Session 1 starts at 11:30 MST - 10:30 PST. Doors open an hour before. Beaver fans, wear your black and orange and sit together, you'll make a better fan block that way! Seating is all general admission, so get there early to get your seats.
Session 2 begins at 4:30 MST, or 3:30 PST. The finals will be aired on Pac-12 television network, beginning at 5:00 PST, 6:00 MST.
For various thoughts on the tournament, you can read several different articles:
Oregon State's article - on latest rankings
Arizona State's latest article - their defeat of CS Bakersfield
Statesman Journal article - on the Border Battle, Beavs vs Broncos & a look ahead to the Pac-12's. Be sure to scroll through the photos at the top of the page, they have quite a few, including crowd shots. Thanks to Craig Scharer, for sending along the link to this article!
A couple of other important links:
The official Pac-12 site - all the stories, previous videos, etc.
Pac-12 article Schedule and specifics on the tournament,
For those who are not able to attend - The finals will be televised on the Pac-12 network, but I am not sure how to follow Session 1 or the beginning of Session 2. I thought maybe it was going to be on Track Wrestling, but I have not been able to verify that. Perhaps you can follow by the OSU Wrestling Facebook page or Twitter account. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks!
For those who will be there to cheer on the Beavs, "The FALL" is making progress on the location for the party after wrestling is over. The location will be "Gordon Biersch", within walking distance of Wells Fargo Arena. That's all we know for now, FALL President Cory Rahn is in Tempe, checking it all out today. More information will be coming as we find out.
For those who like videos, Ryan Haworth, OSU's new sports videographer, has been making highlight videos for all the home duals and some of the away meets. If you missed the links to these (I did!) they are in the "Related Links" box at the top right of each OSU article - if there are any for that meet. The last one, the highlights of the OSU-BSU dual, is at this page. Ryan has also been working with a slow-motion camera. He just put up this video also from the last dual, this one is in slow motion. It is a different experience to watch in slow motion!
A quick look ahead to the NCAA's, for those attending: the color scheme for coordinating t-shirt colors for Beaver fans this year: Orange-Black-Orange. There will not be a special t-shirt for this year, costs in NYC are high enough, so just bring your own t-shirts. First day wear your orange, second day your black and the final day go back to orange. As long as the colors match, Beaver fans will look united!
Finally, a look back, the latest in the "Where are they now?" series. Read on below to learn where the Larson brothers, Jeremy and Kyle are now. A big thank you to Reta Larson for sharing this information!
Where are they now?
Kyle Larson
is also back in Hermiston and was named the head wrestling coach this
past November for Hermiston High School. He has two children and works
for a local trucking company as their parts manager.
Kyle won the 141 title at RTOC in 2006.

Beavers Blast Boise - 36-9!
The Oregon State Beavers put on a great show for the home crowd and the
Pac-12 television cameras today, winning 8 of the 10 matches with the
Boise State Broncos by a final score of 36-9!
Five of those eight matches came with bonus points to boot. Joey Palmer - 133 - major, Seth Thomas -165 - fall!, Corey Griego - 184 - fall!, Cody Crawford -197 - tech fall with riding time and Amar Dhesi - 285 - fall!
Action started with the heavy weight match where Amar Dhesi started things off with a "Boom" - first period fall! That rolled the matches back to the 125's where Ronnie Bresser squeaked out a 5-4 decision after momentarily falling behind.
Next was Joey Palmer's 15-5 major after an action-packed match. At 141, Jack Hathaway gradually pulled away with a 6-2 decision.
Joey Delgado faced Boise's best wrestler, #15 Geordan Martinez and got the first takedown. At the end of the second period it was tied 3-3, but Martinez had riding time. BSU picked up the win in the end, 7-3. Starting up after the television half time, Abraham Rodriquez had a tight match with Chris Castillo. It was tied after the first period, but Abraham got it under control with some takedowns and won the decision 5-3.
Time for senior Seth Thomas to take the mat at 165 for his final time in Gill Coliseum. Seth made the most of it, getting a fall in the second period! The fans gave him a standing ovation. Seth had not only the regular home crowd rooting for him, but a large contingent of orange t-shirt clad "Team Thomas" fans who really enjoyed that pin! Thank you, Seth!!
At 174, Tyler Chay was in a close match, 0-0 after one, but then got caught and pinned, giving Boise their last 6 points. 184, Corey Griego was grinding out his match with lots of riding time, then got the fall in the third period!
Cody Crawford's match at 197 was the last of the afternoon, beginning slowly with a 2-1 first period, then racking up back points in the second period after beginning the round with a reversal. Cody went on to win by tech fall, counting the one point for riding time by 18-3.
For more details, check the article at Oregon State. There is a nice photo of Seth Thomas and his parents there as well. For the view from the other side, read Boise State's article.
Following the dual, "The FALL" Fan Club sponsored a Social in Reser's
Club. Thanks to all who attended, it was the largest crowd we've had at a
Social all year. Some happy fans went home with door prizes claimed by a
call of "Go Beavs!". Coach Zalesky gave his comments on the dual and
thoughts looking to Saturday
and the Pac-12's at ASU. Reynold Gardner interviewed Seth Thomas and
Abraham Rodriquez. A good time was had by all. We hope you all come back
next year!
The FALL is still working on locating a place to have a get together after the Pac-12's on Saturday evening for all the Beaver fans, such as we have done in the past. Apparently there is a big fight the same night, so available space is rare. If anyone has any ideas, please let us know.
More information about the Pac-12's will be coming soon.
Congratulations to the Beavers for holding on to the Border Axe. Now it's on to the Pac-12's!
Go Beavs!!

Last Meet of the Season - Sunday Morning Vs Boise!
Only one more meet before the final tournaments - the Pac-12's and the NCAA's - bring a close to the 2015-16 season! The Beavers host their rivals, the BSU Broncos, at Gill on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 11:00 in the morning.
This will be the Battle for the Border Axe rivalry, so the Beavers will again need a good, loud crowd to give them support. These rivalry meets are always intense, and crowd support is much appreciated!
You might want to be there by 10:45 so you don't miss the ceremony honoring our only Senior, Seth Thomas, as the ceremony will take place before the wrestling begins. This will be Seth's last match on the Beaver mat.
In my previous email, I said there would be two seniors. I erred. Seth is the only one this year. Francisco has one more year, as do several others.
Both Oregon State and Boise State have written articles previewing the meet. You can find more information on the meet in those stories.
At the conclusion of the meet, "The FALL" Fan Club will host a Social in Reser Stadium. This time the Social will take place on Level three, the Club. On the menu for this last Social will be a baked potato bar. Yum! Thanks to FALL Club President Cory Rahn for arranging the delicious menu we've had all season with Levy, the new caterer at OSU this year. Entry - free for all FALL Club members, $5/person or $20/family for non-members.
If you need a t-shirt to wear at the Pac-12's or a pin for your lapel, a bumper sticker for your car, the FALL will be selling those items, both in the lobby in Gill before the meet, and after at the Social. More of those fun door prizes will be waiting at the Social as well!
Seth Thomas will also be honored at the Social, so you will have another chance to say thanks and give him a send-off to the Pac-12's & NCAA's.
A wrestling related story in the news this week, Anthony Robles, a former Nat'l Champ from ASU, visited Salem schools. You can read about it in this article from the Statesman Journal. Thanks to FALL Board member Craig Scharer for sending that link!

Sunday - Beavers Host Final Dual of Season - Senior Day!
This is it! We're coming to the end of the 2015-16
wrestling dual season. The last meet of the school year for the Beavers
will be this coming Sunday, Feb 21, morning - 11:00 PST, at home in Gill. Be there to honor our seniors for their final dual meet on their home mat as the Beavers square off against their border rivals, the Boise State Broncos.
Senior Seth Thomas will be honored in a short ceremony before the wrestling starts. Since this meet will be televised, I would imagine the ceremony will take place about 10 minutes before 11:00.
As mentioned, this meet will be televised. Coverage will be provided by Pac-12 Oregon Channels. You can find the link here or on the Oregon State Schedule page.
After the conclusion of the meet, "The FALL" Fan Club will again host a Social in Reser Stadium. This Social will be held on level 3, The Club - the place last year's Socials were held. Senior Seth Thomas will be honored with some microphone time at the Social. So come on over and say thanks and good luck for the rest of the season. Sorry, foodies, I haven't yet heard what the menu item will be this time. The Social is free to all FALL members, $5/person or $20/family for non-members.
Member packets that had not been picked up have been mailed. If you didn't receive yours, let us know at the Social.
Before the meet, Board members will again be out in the lobby of Gill to sell t-shirts, bumper stickers and pins. The merchandise will also be available at the Social. All sales benefit "The FALL" Fan club which in turn supports OSU Wrestling!
To do some scouting ahead of time, here are some articles for your reading:
OSU - "Beavers back in top 25" - is worth a look for the photo at the top of the page alone! Good one, Scobel!
OSU - "Three Beavers are Ranked"
Boise State - Martinez is Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week
OregonLive - Scott Nelson's latest article on last week's meets, Thanks to Craig Scharer, FALL Board member, for sharing that Oregon Live link!
Six short days after Sunday's final dual, the Pac-12's will take place in Tempe, AZ at ASU, Feb 27. Tickets are on sale, and can be ordered online. You will also find the schedule for the tournament on that page. Again, thanks, Craig, for sharing that link as well!
An all-session pass is $30 for an adult. If you order online, there is also a $3 fee/ticket and a $10 order charge. I am not sure if those are mailed or will-call. There is not a lot of time left for processing. Normally, the event is not sold out and plenty of tickets will be available at the door. All seating is general admission, so if you buy at the door, just get there early so that you can get your ticket and get in to find a seat before matches start. Sometimes there can be a pretty good line by the time the box office gets started.
Go Beavs! Hang on to that Border Axe!

Beavers Clip Wings of Air Force
Oregon State shut out the Air Force Falcons this evening with a 36-0 score. Way to go, Beavers!
As is often the case in wrestling, the score doesn't always tell the whole story. While the Beavers won all ten matches, the Falcons put up a lot of fight and didn't go easily.
Tonight the action began with the 197 weight class. Cody Crawford led the entire match, but it was close and kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the buzzer sounded with Crawford getting the 8-5 decision. Amar Dhesi's match at 285 was never in doubt. Dhesi won by major, 18-6.
After heavyweight, the matches went back to the start of the weight class order - 125. Ronnie Bresser's match was tight, like a chess match. Bresser won 4-1. Joey Palmer's match was a flurry of activity, winning the 133 match by major, 14-4.
Jack Hathaway had a tough match at 141 with Dylan Hyder who came with his own fan club - Hyder is from Washington state. Another close match, Hathaway pulled it out in the end with a 5-3 decision. Next up, Joey Delgado at 149. Period one ended 2-1, but Delgado kept working and won a 6-3 decision.
At 157, Abraham Rodriquez fought off several takedown attempts early. Period one ended with a tie 5-5, Abe had riding time, though. Period two found Rodriquez down 8-9, but he fought back to take the decision 12-10. Senior Seth Thomas led the 165 match all the way, but ended it with a fall in the third period. Way to go, Seth!
The 174 pound match was one of the closest. The first period tied 0-0, then the two wrestlers exchanged escape points in the 2nd and 3rd periods, but Tyler Chay managed the takedown in the final seconds to win 3-1. The final match of the evening came at 184 where Corey Griego wore down his opponent from a 2-0 first period score (plus lots of riding time) to an ultimate major, 10-2. Final score: 36-0.
Congratulations to the entire Beaver team!! The Beavs held an autograph session for their fans at the conclusion of the meet.
For more information, read the articles at the Oregon State and Air Force web sites.
Only one more dual remains for the Beavers this season, and it will be at home in Gill this coming Sunday, Feb 21. Wrestling starts at 11:00 am. This will the final dual for seniors Seth Thomas and Francisco Castro-Guzman. The Beavs host Boise State for the one and only Border Battle for this season. We will have a Social following the meet in Reser Stadium. This Social will be held on Level 3 in Reser, at the Club.
Be there to wish the seniors well and to support the Beavers in their quest to keep the Border Axe here in Corvallis!

Air Force Coming on Sunday & Other News
Now for all the news I didn't have time to add in the last email!
The Air Force Falcons fly in to Gill on Sunday, Feb 14, for a dual at 5:00 pm. The Falcons just won two duals last night including their first in the Big 12 Conference. Read their article for more details.
Remember, there will be no Social after this Sunday's meet. If you had not picked up your member packet, no need to worry. Those envelopes will be mailed soon.
Looking back to last night's Social, it was well attended by happy Beaver fans. Fans got to hear a few words from Head Coach Jim Zalesky and were entertained by an interview by Reynold Gardner of Kegan Calkins and Bryce Parsons, two of our back-ups this year.
Fans are starting to get plans settled for attending Pac-12's and/or the NCAA's. Here are a few items that came out of those discussions:
The hotel rooms set aside for "The FALL" in Tempe passed the deadline yesterday and have been released. The Hotel where most Beaver fans will be is The Country Inn & Suites by Calson, Phoenix Airport, 808 N. Scottsdale Rd. Tempe, AZ. You may still google that hotel and reserve rooms, but "The FALL" will no longer guarantee the special rate.
Want to share a ride to the Pac-12's? A mid-valley couple is planning to drive down to Tempe, leaving on Thursday Feb 25, stopping half way down overnight and arriving in Tempe on Friday, Feb 26. The Pac-12's are Feb 27, Saturday. Return on Sunday and Monday, Feb 28 & 29. They are willing to share the ride. Let me know and I can put you in touch.
Thanks to Craig Scharer for sharing this link to a Pac-12 page. If you scroll down the page you will come to "More Wrestling Videos". Under that heading you will see three Pac Profiles focused on Ronnie Bresser (they call him Ronnie Rios), Joey Palmer and Cody Crawford.
Now - looking ahead momentarily to March and the NCAA's. Is there anyone out there who has ticket/s to the NCAA's that they can't use and would like to sell? Conversely, anyone out there who would like to get a ticket to the NCAA's and doesn't have one yet? If so, let me know and I can put you in touch.
Looking for hotel rooms for the NCAA's? Deadline to get one of the rooms reserved by "The FALL" is Sunday, Feb. 14. Contact Michael Denison for information. I can put you in touch if you don't know Michael. There were a few rooms left.
Many of you have been inquiring about the Pure Orange Forum, as it has been out of commission lately. I was assured last night that the Forum is undergoing some repair and will be back soon for all of us!
The good, loud crowd we had on Thursday really helped boost the Beavers to victory. Let's get a similar crowd for the dual with the Falcons!
Last, but not least, be sure to check the "Where are they now?" section below to see the latest on former OSU wrestler, Colby Covington. Thanks to Brad Covington for sharing this news!
Go Beavs!
Where are they now?
Colby Covington is training with the American Top Team in Coconut Creek FL. He is a current UFC Fighter with 8-1 record. He has a profile page at the UFC.

Beavers Thrill Crowd - Defeat #7 Oklahoma!
If you weren't there last night when the
Beavers dismantled the Oklahoma Sooners, you missed a good, old
fashioned barn burner! The crowd and the wrestlers alike revelled in the
21-12 victory as the Beavers took 6 of the ten matches from the #7
ranked Sooners!
Congratulations to all match winners:
125 -Ronnie Bresser
141 - Jack Hathaway
157 - Abraham Rodriquez
184 - Corey Griego
197 - Cody Crawford
285 - Amar Dhesi
The Beavers had the crowd on their feet often, even in the matches they lost, fighting hard. None of the Beavers gave up any bonus points, Hathaway and Griego picked up bonus points - Hathaway with a fall that electrified the crowd, and Griego grinding out a major!
Bresser - #7- again started things off at 125 winning a decision over his opponent - Ryan Millhoff- ranked right below him at #8. Joey Palmer actually led 5-4 at the end of the first period in his match with #4 Cody Brewer, who is a past Nat'l Champ. Brewer went on to win, but Joey held him to a decision.
Hathaway was behind 0-4 at the end of the first, having gotten caught and nearly choked out. He was looking fairly dazed as he started the 2nd period but moments later he had the crowd celebrating his fall! Joey Delgado had a tough but close match, losing by decision. Rodriquez started out slowly, with a 0-0 score at the end of one, then building his lead to 5-2 at the end, making the score Beavs 12, Sooners 6.
Seth Thomas faced #13 Clark Glass, and kept the score close, but couldn't quite get a takedown, dropping the match 1-3. Tyler Chay kept the score tight through the first two periods, but dropped a 2-8 decision. The score was tied again, 12-12.
Corey Griego's match was low scoring, 2-0, through the first 2 periods plus massive amounts of riding time, but racked up enough back points in the third period to get the major, OSU 16 Sooners 12.
Cody Crawford's 197 match was another nail biter, 1-0 at the end of two, but kept battling away until the 4-2 decision gave the Beavers an unstoppable score of 19-12! Amar Dhesi - #10 - finished out the evening with a score that looks closer than it seemed, defeating #15 Brad Larson 8-6. Final Score: Beavs 21 Sooners 12. Way to go Beavers!!
For more details, check the articles at Oregon State and Oklahoma.
More information will be coming in another email later today when I have a chance to get back to the computer.

For the foodies out there, the menu for Thursday night will be chicken wings with vegetables and a choice of sauces. Yum! We will also have door prizes and silent auction items. You'll find the prize selection displayed behind the bar area once you are there.
Two more home meets round out the schedule for the season. Due to the time - 5:00 meet - and the fact that it is Valentine's Day, there will be no Social after the Air Force meet on Sunday. We will have one final Social after the Border Battle with Boise on Sunday, Feb 21.
Now for some very important deadlines. Please note - if you are going to the Pac-12's at ASU Feb. 27, the deadline to reserve a room at the special rate arranged by "The FALL" is tomorrow, Feb 11!! For information on the hotel and how to reserve a room, check the flier. You can make reservations after that, but we can't guarantee that rooms will be available or at that rate.
Next deadline - for hotel rooms for the NCAA's in NYC - Sunday, Feb 14. If you are planning to go to the NCAA's and need a room, we still have about 5 left. The rate is $240+tax per night. NYC is expensive; these are reasonably priced and close to Madison Square Garden where the NCAA's will take place. If you want one of these rooms, reply back to me and I will put you in contact with the person in charge. The rooms will only be held until Feb. 14, this Sunday, then they have to be released.
The Beavers will have one more meet before the weekend is over. As mentioned earlier, Air Force comes to town on Valentine's Day, Sunday, Feb 14. The meet begins at 5:00 pm. There will be no Social following that meet - you are free to take your sweetheart out to dinner after the wrestling is over! (Just be sure to bring your sweetheart with you to the meet!)
Air Force has not written a story for the dual yet, but their news articles are here.

Beavers Two For Three on Weekend
The Beavers were oh so close to coming home
with a sweep of the California Pac-12 schools, but they couldn't quite
close the deal, losing to the Roadrunners 20-21.
The match victories swung back and forth this evening between the Roadrunners and the Beavers, but when the final buzzer sounded the score was 20 all. The criteria that gave the meet to Cal State Bakersfield was the number of six point wins (falls). CSUB had one at 174, the Beavers had none.
Congratulations to the Beaver match winners:
125 - Ronnie Bresser (decision)
133 - Joey Palmer (major)
157 - Abraham Rodriquez (major)
184 - Corey Griego (tech fall)
285 - Amar Dhesi (major)
There were so many ways that the result could have been different, but that's a coulda woulda shoulda situation, so the Beavers will have to wait until next time.
For more information on the meet, read the article by Bakersfield. The link to OSU's story can be found on the archive page when it gets posted.
Sunday, February 7, the final Open Tournament of the season takes place for the rest of the OSU wrestling team. The California Collegiate at San Francisco State begins at 9:00 am. Some information can be found in this SFU article. More information can be found on this flier. The semi's and finals will be streamed here, beginning at 3:00. Participation is not mandatory in open tournaments, but usually some of the Oregon State squad will attend.
The team now returns home for their final three meets of the season. The first will be next Thursday, Feb 11, at 7 pm in Gill when the Beavers host Oklahoma. "The FALL" Fan club will host a Social following the meet in Reser Stadium's Loge.
Good luck to any Beavers entered in the Cal Collegiate tomorrow!

Dhesi Honored & This Week's Schedule
Before we move ahead to this week's schedule, we need a look back to last week. Another OSU wrestler picked up the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week Award. This time it was Amar Dhesi, Beaver Heavyweight, who brought home the award. Congratulations, Amar! You can find more details in Oregon State's article.
While we are covering articles from last week, Craig Scharer, FALL Board member snagged this article at "the Barometer": a very interesting piece about Seth Thomas and his leadership of the team. If you haven't seen it yet, it is well worth reading. Thanks for sharing, Craig!
Looking ahead to this week, the Beavers have a very busy and important Pac-12 schedule. They head for California to take on three Pac-12 opponents.
Stanford is first on the schedule - Thursday evening at 6:30. The only technology available to follow the meet that I can find is a link to Twitter on Stanford's schedule page. They have an article on the upcoming dual with the Beavers posted on their site. Stanford's regular 149, Paul Fox, is out for the season, having knee surgery, according to video clips in their previous post.

So far, the Roadrunners have not posted a news article about the Saturday dual, but you can find their recent articles in their archives. I could not find any links for following the meet.
Oregon State has also posted an article about the duals ahead, be sure to check that out.
